I just saw on a friend's status... How phones had strange disruptions this week... And truly mine made a very strange noise for about some seconds before going off.... My phone has never behaved like that since I bought it... I never knew someone somewhere(maybe the federal government) was remotely accessing our phones in collaboration with Google to install a covid tracker or something.

And there have been reports how people also experienced similar disruptions.

Did you experience any disruptions?

To check if maybe the tracker has been placed on your cell — For Android just goto Settings — Google settings — you should see a covid-like notification stuff.

Also the COVID-19 API was added weeks ago and I think it isn't fully active.
You gotta download an app to fully enable it and Nigeria hasn't got any yet cos of our useless government and please, the API was designed NOT to collect your data or log your activities unless you give it permission to do so.

I doubt if it's the Nigerian government. More likely attached to Google/Gmail services. Many services attached to those & play store mostly update while hidden in the background.
