I was just thinking and these are my thoughts.

Europe is one of the most advanced continent in the world. less than 8 decades ago (75 years ago exactly) it experienced a devastating war that lasted for years. it devastated her people in millions, it ruined her lands, it destroyed a large portion of her infrastucture and worst still it broke TRUST and RELATIONSHIPS amongst nations.

looking at Europe today, the traces of world war 1 and 2 are almost none existent. all that was lost have been gotten a hundred folds. but most importantly the TRUST and RELATIONSHIP POST WAR has been fully restored. europeans did not suddenly develop amnesia and forgot the past. infact they still vivid remember and celebrate their fallen heroes. they teach it in their history lessons to. but they choose not to live in the past, they learnt the lesson that narcissistic governments or personality cannot maintain political peace. the citizens learnt to reason contrary to populist ideas from narcissistic politicians and dictators amongst other things. the point is they learnt lessons from the past but have left the past in the past, where it should rightly be.

the wrong done by Germany is never brought up in Europe again, in fact the Germans are highly respected and their products are widely accepted and used in Europe. in fact they merged all together to form the EU (except for UK that just left, but still see how cordially they left while still drafting out stronger trade deals between their economies)

if Europe was represented by Nigeria post-civil war which is about 6 decades ago (53 years ago exactly), Europe would have been a mess. The lessons from the civil war will never be learnt, the TRUST and RELATIONSHIP will never be built. it brings up the question, were the losses of lives and properties less severe in the two world wars than that of the Nigerian civil war?
why was Europe able to pick up the broken pieces and moved on without ever looking back?


in addition between Asia and the American continents, the USA and JAPAN are very strong allies. but guess what the USA bombed two major cities in Japan with the baddest bombs ever made- the nuclear bomb.
imagine a part of Nigeria was bombed with such nuclear weapon and millions were killed, will those who threw that bomb ever be forgiven?
The Japanese forgave the US and that history although known is never brought up in their modern politics.
so why do Nigerians build mansions in the past and comfortably live there though they have the power to forge a better and peaceful future for themselves like the Europeans did and that of the Japanese?

After the First World War it was like the winner takes it all-- sharing of spoils. Hitler also participated in that war. Lands were take away from them. He saw what took place in Europe after his country lost so he vowed that when he becomes the leader that he would reclaim what Germany lost. He grew up to power with that hate. He was a nationalist that is why some Germans initially supported him. But he allowed his hate to take the whole of him.

Nobody wants to remain conquered people forever! This is exactly what is happening in Nigeria-- the winner takes it all mentality! Europe learnt its lesson after the Second World War. If Nigeria is not careful what happened in Europe will repeat itself here. You can't be holding somebody down for long in this modern time. Even empires grow and fall, and Nigeria government or system won't be exceptional if the major players do not come together to settle issues. Now that the Europeans had learnt their lessons they allow even the smallest of nation states to decide their own faith. Nigeria is still operating with the manual of the Civil War... The major reason Europe is experience peace is because even the smallest tribe have right for self-determination if they can fend for themselves amongst the committee of nations.

we already have AU with Nigeria a member state and ECOWAS for West African countries. what other union are you imagining?

in the Nigerian story, the Ibo citizenry were hard done. the vengeful nature of the Fulani/hausa's caused them to pounce on an entire tribe because of what a few soldiers lead by an Ibo man did to their leaders. Those who wronged them should have been dealt with alone and not an entire tribe which is genocidal. I believe that lead to them feeling unsafe and wanting to live Nigeria as a whole. post civil war, we have had some of that pattern of ethnic killing replicated time and again. this is unjust, and I condemn it.


but the ibo's are also not without fault. they lost the war for freedom from Nigeria and while I commend majority of them for going back to different parts of Nigeria that they ran from forgetting how their people may have been killed their, some of them and their followers have not accepted the result of the war. Germany and japan lost their respective wars fairly and Unfairly but did not dwell on the loss. dwelling on it would have cause them to seek revenge and maybe WW3. moving on is more noble for great minds but not easy if you aren't mature enough.

we play myopic politics too much in Nigeria and eveeyone misses the big picture in the end.

Could you imagine that one man in government in my locality embezzled our money.
When he knew we are serious to get back our money, he ran to Kaduna, and those people welcomed him and protected from our people who went there to bring him back.

it has nothing to do with being homogeneous rather it has everything to do with the justice system. if the justice system in Nigeria is working as it should be, where ever he runs in Nigeria he will be persecuted. it's like black lives matter campaign against racism. those blacks are not homogeneous to the whites, do you recommend all the blacks be deported to Africa or the white should fix the racism problem in some institutions? its similar to this too.
