Rainstorm has destroyed over 100 houses in the hilly town of Idanre in Ondo state, rendering some people homeless.

The damage was more alarmed in Alade Idanre where many roofs were blown off and poles taken away from their original places.

According to reports, some affected areas are; Idimilokun, Oke-Ibukun and Police Station road and among others.

The General Hospital, Idanre was not left out as it had its car park blown off and reduced to rubbles while its neighbor, the house of a retired Justice of Supreme Court had its gate pulled down and many of the tree crops planted in his garden got uprooted by the windstorm.

The electric cables around Gbekemu valley in Odode and Alade Idanre were conspicuously seen on the road as many of the poles, made with steel had either fallen or bent.

A victim, identified as Mrs Janet Jonuash, who has a computer Centre at the former Post Office building, one of the affected areas at Alade Idanre, lamented her loss of over three million naira equipment damaged and stationeries spoilt by the storm after the roof of her shop had been blown off.

Another victim, Mr Adewale Afolabi at Palace Road, Atosin Idanre while recounting the havoc caused by the rainstorm to his family house, said a sum of two hundred thousand naira would be needed to repair roof blown off by the storm.

The Duo therefore seek government’s assistance

One would think that the beautiful hills surrounding the sleepy town would protect them from the ravages of a stormy rain.

Op, over 100 houses and you couldn't even post picture of one house that was affected, just some corrugated roofing sheets on the floor? angry

The people should take matters into their own hands and take care of their own lives instead of continually waiting for a useless and irresponsible government. It doesn't take so much to get the youths in the community together to clear drainages, dig gutters, clean the environment, etc.

If this kpalaka can be considered as houses in Yoruba land, then it's finished. Yorubas and brown roofs are like amala and ewedu.

You think drains cause houses to be destroyed by a rainstorm?

This isn't a flood casel
