The biblical statement in Hosea 4:6 that “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” is real and true especially with reference to marriage. Many singles changed their status from being singles to being married without the knowledge of how to manage their new status. They are like someone who bought a car without knowing how to drive it. Such a person will only be able to sit in the car while someone else drives it.

Many marriages are managed in this fashion. The wife that has just wedded doesn’t know what to do and how to do it to enjoy her marriage. The newly wedded husband doesn’t know how to propel the machinery of a happy marriage in motion.

This reminds me of a story about a couple. Both of them were virgins, from Christian homes. Few months after their wedding, a concerned parent of the groom inquired from him if his wife was pregnant or not. He could not answer yes or no because he didn’t know how to confirm if a woman was pregnant or not.

After a while, the groom took his wife to the hospital, to see a doctor and to do a pregnancy test too. It was at the hospital that the doctor discovered that the wife was still a virgin. That was alarming but it was true.

The husband of this woman had been lying on her, inserting his manhood between her tight during sexual intercourse from the night of their wedding, which ran like that for many months.
That is how expensive marital ignorance can be.
The truth about marriage is that you cannot get what you did not put into it. It agrees with a computer jargon that what you garbage into it is what it garbage’s out for you. It is an institution that runs on principles and governed by a set of rules and regulations. When the principles that run a marriage are not in motion, the marriage will not perform maximally.
