Like I said; its going to be combined foundation, we choose this after soil study and other consideration. However it's safer, more reliable and economical.

Rebar , columns and column bases. But before the erecting the column we have to apply a chemical in the column base that is filled with water.

The land is quite interesting so we made column bases and it columns more interesting well study has proven the area to be seriously swampy so we need to get the foundation neatly reinforced

The rebar: rebar is used to increase the tensile strength of concrete. That exactly what gat to do.

Casting the walls commences, what we will do is : 1. Cast, loose and reuse the board for cost control. 2. Raise block walls within some strip to resist lateral pressure instead of concrete walls and that also is a cost control measure. 1 Like

Good for filling The depth of the foundation to be filled is between 8' - 9'6" ( feet). However is going to take some good number of laterite.

When rain began properly we are already done with the earthwork Let us look at this, you know many people don't know why we use hardcore stone in a building like this many have asked " is it a filling station ? Is heavy duty Truck going to be offloading on this foundation? Are you building skyscraper here ? Why all the hardcore or lump stone ? Well I will list at least 5 importance of hardcore 1. It gives a good base for the building. 2. Hardcore strengthens or solidifies the base which the oversite concrete will sit on. 3. it helps in resisting pressure of dead and live loads on the ground floor. 4. It also helps to save cost of construction, the volume occupied by the hardcore if it were to be concrete it would have cost more. 5.The gap between the Oversite concrete and the filling created by hardcore helps to reduce movement of water up to the ground floor 3 Likes

Reinforcing the OSC Mesh or re-bar has been used as a reinforcement for concrete slabs that are designed to carry load, whether that loading would be carrying traffic or bearing another structure such as a wall. Meshes are important in slab concrete cast because is strong in compression. Steel mesh will prevent tension that may cause cracks to large degree and hold it all together.

Well done bro. My site has sharp sand and the water underneath the sand is close to the surface during raining season. In fact, Wells in the area are not deeper that 8ft. How can I go about the foundation on that type of soil? |
Re: How We Built The Foundation in a Valley / Waterlogged Land by Engr Dubem & Team by Dubemcapital1(m): 11:01am On Jul 23, 2020 |
chemicool: Conduct a soil test, take it to a qualified architect to design the proposed building. With the soil test result the architect will recommend a suitable foundation for your building, a structural engineer can do same. However sharp sand is not a threat to foundations, is one of the best soil to build on if you are experienced. On sharp sand you can use Pile, float foundation, combined foundation etc but which ever one it must be a very high foundation. I may help more if I examine the soil myself on how to achieve a normal foundation that will be safe and cost friendly. 1 Like 1 Share |
