ProfAmaben: It's cute you know the meaning of ranting and you "only proposed a different view of the subject matter". That's why you carefully wrote the below: "these guys are DELUSIONAL and formulate all sorts of CHEAP LIES to deceive Nigerians" |

ProfAmaben: The problem is, the smart ones don't have connection to get into these positions. And it's not like Nigerian government conducts fair recruitment exercises anyways. Even loan requires you know somebody. |

o its now that you have decided to build your gold reserves when other countries have been doing that ages ago in preparation for the global economic downfall you see yourselves well its a little to late Mr president other countries have solid gold reserves to position their nation in better standing after the global economic collapse. when china was illegally mining Nigeria's gold what do you think they were preparing for? since you guys dont have economic foresight for valuable precious metals they decided to do it for you useless bunch of people 1 Like |

ProfAmaben: Going by publicised Nigerian data/statistics, you would be right. But there's GIS and other satellite techniques nowadays... They make valuation/assessment of mineral deposits a lot easier and remotely doable. I even learnt that Australia and China have their own in space already so I wont be surprised if these countries already know what we have here and he (Prof. Osibanjo) may be speaking from being privy to that knowledge. Especially with the influx of chinese nationals into places like Osun state and co this time... There may something these guys know that the rest of the populace dont. 1 Like |

ModestGal: Well... as much as I agree otally with you.. I think this is till some progress.. when compared to the former method where the raw ore is often bought for cheap and taken offshore for procesing/refining... It would have been better though...if the government can put up a policy that mandates the refineries to invest some portion of their profits in higher level stages of the value chain within the cout nry. |

ProfAmaben: The report is wrong and if is not the fault of the VP, more that of our so called correspondents. Nigeria has 21.50 tonnes of certified gold reserves. The real figure may be somewhat higher as the estimates are based on shallow surface reserves. At 32,000 ounces in the ton -this at your prices represents $27,520,000,000 which is not an amount to be sneezed at. |

Re: FG Inaugurates Gold Refinery, Boosts Small-scale Mining by ProfAmaben(m): 9:06pm On Jul 01, 2020 |
kafeii123: Well, I happen to be a GIS and remote sensing expert and NASRDA which is the agency in charge of space research doesn't have the data. OSGOF and NGS possess 1950's dated mineral maps. I learn everyday and I would be glad if I'm proved wrong. Australia and China cannot take such surveys without the consent of Nigeria and it would be a laborious effort as hyperspectral satellite imageries can be very expensive and tedious to analyse and nobody would do that without heavy pay. The vice president is wrong in his analysis. 2 Likes |

ProfAmaben: Please lets forget NARSDA in the scheme pf things for now... much as those guys are working.... I dont think Federal Character and the other ills of management in Nigerian public institutuions ..will make the place reach the enviable heights it could play at as a regional centre of excellence ...especially for Western Africa. But there's record of some illegal mineral mapping by some foreign nationals down in Nigeria....especially the chinese.... For a chinese country to buy up almost an entire village in osun from the traditional ruler.... while our Geological/mineral maps only show gold along the osun river...you can be sure they are up to something.... and of course you're right on the illegality of space mapping on foreign territory....even though I wont put it as something some the asian tiger cannot do. Lets hope we get things roght soon though. Well done sir... how's research? |

TheRareGem1: Honestly, Buhari is very lucky that each time he messed this our economy up, VP Osinbajo is always there to put it back again and the 'slow' President is stll ungrateful and always try to rubbish the man! When he was ill, it was Osinbajo that took charge and steadied the Ship When he had problems with Niger Delta Millitants and was even afraid to go there, it was the same Osinbajo that stepped-in and calmed frayed nerves and built trust with the Militants and the Crude Oil was allowed to flow again The only thing Buhari is good at is putting Northerners in all the federal appointments, encouraging terrorist, Fulani herdsmen to keep slaughtering local indigenes and stealing their land and looting Southern Nigeria resources and using it to develop the North. Even when Buhari pltted his Coup in 1983, it was another Yoruba Soldier, Tunde Idiagbon that was the engine room of that short-lived administration, the only thing Buhari did was to lockup Southern Politicians in JAIL and just put the Northern ones under House Arrest. Bloody tribalist Bigot and nepotisitic leader. |

kafeii123: You are very correct. That agency died since 2007. They only employ dullards and abokis (not being tribalistic). NARSDA scientific officers except for a select few don't even know Jack about remote sensing, at most they use Markov chain and cellular automata for land use land cover prediction and analysis. Research is going on very well. I'm integrating the covid-19 API to spatially referenced maps so that we would see the covid-19 data based on location. I have already done the API integration using REACT js and got data from the Mapdro.id API https://react-covid19-tracker-by-uzor.netlify.app/ click on the global button to view by countries. |

ProfAmaben:I don't know where you got your figures from but an ounce of 24 carat pure gold i bought at Ibadan 2009 from a gold dealer was #110,000 then. I don't know where you are getting your own figures from bro. I tried doing the gold runs but later backed off, smuggling it abroad to sell. |
