River State Governor, Nyesom Wike has vowed to support Rotimi Amaechi if he declares to contest for President in 2023 as peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Candidate.

Speaking during a live interview on Arise Television, Gov Wike insisted that he would only support the Minister if he cross carpet to PDP and succeeds in clinching the party presidential ticket.

He added that if PDP Zones the Presidency to the South and Chibuike Ameachi contest under the PDP, he would back him. But If he(Ameachi) was to run under APC, it would amount to anti-party activity for him(Wike) to support him.


"If he is running under PDP, why not? If he is running under APC, why should i support him? I'm not a member of APC. I'm a true and through Nigerian "

If Rotimi Ameachi is running for President under PDP and he gets the party ticket, why not?" he added

Speaking on his personal ambition for the number one seat in the country, Wike said;

"For now, iI'm not going to run for the presidency of Nigeria. My job, for now is to develop Rivers State. 2023 may be the problem APC because it is the ruling party"

"The president is going so someone wants to take over. But as PDP who are you taking over from? I just took over one year ago. If I start to thing of Presidency i will not be able to deliver dividends of democracy. That is the problem you see in APC"

Even if I still have my reservations with wike on the demolished hotel in PH two months ago,I give it to him on this one. Why won't I support my own brother if he decides to contest? Politics aside, these two still call each other which is the spirit of sportsmanship.
