Covid19 Pandemic Palliatives: The Unsung Hero Among Us by Goodlucknigeria: 8:39pm On Jul 03, 2020
11th March, 2020 witnessed a declaration of the novel coronavirus (Covid19) a global pandemic by World Health Organization (WHO). This outbreak brought a sudden disturbance on political, social, economic, religious and financial structures of the world. Developed economies of the world such as U.S., UK, Germany, France, China, Japan and Italy have suffered great collapse. Nigeria is not left out in this pandemic as its been predicted to undergo the worst recession. The Federal Government alongside the State and Local Governments has taken preventive and proactive measures to slow down the spread of this novel coronavirus as well as provide palliatives as succour to cushion the adverse effects of the lockdown.
While many political office holders in the country have attempted to provide palliatives to their people, many elites with in Northern Cross River State have kept mute in this regard. However, Joe Agi SAN took it upon himself to assist his people as an ordinary citizen.
On the 9th of May, 2020, Joe Agi SAN reached out to the people of his senatorial district through the provision of 1000 bags of rice and 1000 cartons of indomie. This gesture of Joe Agi SAN, being a non political office holder has earned him praises from traditional rulers, elders and youths. Leaders from the zone have continued to pour enconiums on Joe Agi as a true son of the land and worthy of emulation from all and sundry. Great leaders are lauded for their successes. But, paradoxically, what makes good leaders great are how they can manage in times of trials and tribulations. Furthermore, the true test of a leader's character is how they stand during a test of adversity. This is what resonate in Joe Agi SAN. He is indeed an unsung hero!
