That ALUU community ehn? Whose name is usually synonymous with bad news like the ALUU four. They seem unhappy whenever something good was coming out of there. Really sad. This is something some other communities would give anything to have. It is well.

Its not just ALUU o. That's the story of so many communities. Is it not the other day that the Rep for one of the Ibadan constituency, the nairabet guy, sent a free transformer to improve light in the affected community and rather than even show his team the way and location where the transformer will be properly mounted to serve the community, rather the local communities heads and their area or community boys where busy demanding for settlement before the transformer is even allowed into the community and nobody, even the residents didn't seem to care and as a man who doesn't have time for rubbish just told them to move the transformer to another community within the constituency.

I know about another story in Lagos on the oworo axis where zenith bank wanted to fix the bad roads within the axis, largely because there is one one zenith bank branch that serves that entire area and both customers and staffs find it difficult to access due to the very appalling road. Anyone that know Oworoshoki know that the area can relate with the roads there and zenith bank decided to fix the roads in that community especially the entry point into the community as their CSR project. It was to my amazement that the then oba in that zone was demanding over 2million + from zenith to fix it according to the lady who stays around there and happens to be a staff of the bank. This is a wealthy oba already who controls the dredging activities in that axis o. Through his boys, he hindered the turnaround of that community but as God will have it, he passed on. The bank eventually did it and the community is better for it but I couldn't believe the height of selfishness, greed and wickedness that would make any man be a wall to growth and development of his society but that's the story of this government and why Nigeria can never be developed. Its everywhere. Being inconsiderate of one another is our bane as a country and as long as it continues that way, there is no hope.

My brother, this has nothing to do with tribalism. It is sheer foolishness of some Nigerian youths to hinder development of their community due to personal greed. You want to construct road to a community, they will levy you. But the road has being abandoned for years. Now someone wants to fix it for them and they are levying him. Is that not foolishness? You think this is about tribe? I pity your low level of reasoning

It is your mud adulterated cranium that is low in reasoning...when you generalised the state indigens in your initial post were you thinking with your anus...agbaya

Ikwerres and their unreasonable quest for money is unparalleled. I could remember in 90's when shell bp oil company wanted to lay water pipes along the street so that rumuokwurushi community people can access a clean tap water 24/7 from their quarters at Aba road. They asked the company to pay for the land they will lay the pipes on. That was how the project was abandoned. The company only decide to construct some taps outside the gate of the quarters so that people can still come and fetch.

If the Church in Nigeria decides to shutdown its operations and businesses, Nigeria will instantly become a seabed of unemployment. Many people (ignoramus) do not know that the church is the largest and most impactful NGO in the country. Mosque is totally irrelevant.

A revolt from the church will lead to total collapse of government, plunging the nation into chaos and uncertainty. It is the church that has glued the country to its citizens and provided hope and jobs for those who had given up on governance.

DON'T TEST OUR RESOLVE

Richdad
What has the topic to do with government and Islam? It's your fellow Christan that is asking for money not Muslim get it right. Also go North and build the hospital, they will even give you free land and labor for the project. You get it wrong when you said that government will collapse forgetting that some of those that pay tithes are government worker or contractor.

Organizations willing to carry out community projects should go through the state or local government. That way, community extortion will not be possible as the state or local government will ensure that any community leader or CDC chairman who insist on levy before development can be carried out with be dealt with decisively.

Pls you people should stop insulting Ikwerres particularly becos it happens with other ethnic groups.

Its because mosques hardly announce or loud out their positive philanthropic initiatives. Your left hands shouldn't be aware of the acts of kindness ur right hand has undertaken, this is the instruction of Allah subhanna wata'Allah. It's for those who heed HIS words though.

I'm not surprised here. This may be the hand work of other profit making hospitals in that community. They must have bribed those elders to start collecting the levy. They, will pay it because they are profit-oriented. It's just to eliminate their competitor.

From my own perspective there is more to it.

Insiders are involved, feeding those leaders on how those free services are being paid back in disguise of paying tithes and offerings. Therefore, OPM using the excuse of paying for community levies as reason for closing down the hospital is not tenable.

Is the levies weekly, monthly, yearly or perpetual? Answer is needed.

This is one of the effects of coronavirus pandemic on worship centers.

Lets face it, if Churches are open, there won't be a complaint from the G.O.
one person in the congregation would have volunteered to foot the bill after he/she must have been subdued by the psychological sermons.

Moreso, the G.O shouldn't have been counting his blessings.

In conclusion, apologists of the so called G.O. can start abusing me, but all I care about is that I'm entitled to my own opinion just like everyone on earth.

So because the church collects tithes and offerings it is a reasonable excuse for extortion by the community for this project? How do NGOs operate? Through tithes and offerings? Or just because its a church you have display your stupidity?

The reason church are more prominent with philanthropic work is because they do it far more

Entitlement mentality is a thing that ravages all of Nigeria , irregardless of tribe or religion.
It seems I am kinda of agreeing with the context of Nigeria youth are lazy.
We have Omo onile in Lagos , who aren't literally land owners as the name implies , but must get there share of land tax from land owners.
We keep lamenting lack of investors in our environment, but whenever any investors comes around , we will try to extort them.

A man in locality had to stop building a bridge in my area, when so called area boys wanted to milk him dry.
How will a nation grow , when some set of lazy riff raff are always entitled to some commission when social programs are enacted.
Sadly those riff raffs are a small minority. The question is what are the decent majority doing to confront this madness? Nothing. You even hear people try to justify this by giving excuses, everything from hunger to ( the crooks) being clever.

u have a weak point. this hospital serves everyone of different denomination or religion. it is free to ALL. not church members alone. so I see no reason why d community leaders won't give exception to what they are also benefitting from?

I just treated malaria, i spent more that 2000 on drugs for it. imagine how this hospital is helping those in that community.

Actually I was directly referring to you. You feel entitled. You levy and hinder development. Have you checked why all the oil wells in your community are owned by fulanis? It is because they will gather few of you in the community, give you N10m and you will be happy like mumu. Then they milk you and pollute your land. If you agitate again, they give you another N5m

Look, I work in taxes. I know how you guys sell your birth right daily. Recently, I was at NPDC, some group from Rivers state came that they want health centre built in their oil producing community. They wanted N60m. It was approved. The group went back and shared it. No health centre was built. Who is doing who? You guys are selling your birth right on a daily basis. You can insult me as much as you want. I just told you the obvious truth that you know but hate to be told

The greed on this side of the planet is on a very high level. It plays out in many communities in this shithole country, you mobilize contractors to site to deliver a project in a community, the greedy youths and elders will also mobilize to extort exorbitant Levy from the contractor.

And this is supposed to be a project that would improve standard of living oh. They prefer what they will eat today to what will benefit them and thier future generation for a longer period.

I remember when my company wanted to rehabilitate a community's bad road, the youths insisted on payment of development levy, we had to abandon the road after harrasments on the constrution company workers.
