We have this culture of doing this to reduce fuel consumption. Engineers in the house, does this practice have any effect on fuel consumption or it is just mere speculation? cc: lalasticlala

Adjust ur gen caburattor fuel intake. My backup tiger tg750 generator last 4hrs on a 1 LTR of fuel. |

The only way to minimize/reduce fuel consumption on electric generators is to reduce the load on it. Anything else you're doing like placing the fuel valve halfway, adjusting the intake of the carburettor air-fuel mixture, or fiddling with the throttle speed to reduce RPM, will have a negative effect on the engine overtime. It's much better for the carburettor to get more fuel than is required and store the excess, than to get less which can cause a reduction in engine RPM and power output or eventual stalling. Just reduce the load connected to your generator and you're good. Make use of energy saving bulbs in your home, if you have to run your washing machine, set it to a low power shorter cycle otherwise don't use it, avoid running your ACs if you don't absolutely need it, no use of electric cookers, etc 8 Likes |

Chuky7: It doesn't weaken the gens life span in anyway. Been using it for more than 6 yrs now. Infact I service the Gen my self whenever it's due. 1 Like |

They have raped our electricity sector so bad that we have to adjusted valves to give us the false impression fuel would last longer to enjoy more light. |
