An American woman lured to Nigeria by a promise of marriage from a man she met on Facebook has been rescued after being held captive for more than a year, police say.
The 46-year-old was held against her will in a hotel room in Lagos. The suspect Chukwuebuka Obiaku, 34, "took control" of the unnamed victim's credit and debit cards, and retirement benefits, according to the police.

There's something not right about this story..

She Arrives, enjoys life, marries after 3 months.. No coercion seen at the marriage registry to raise alarms by officials or witnesses...

She then sits in a hotel for another 12-13 months, likely to be paid by her given the scruffy looking gentleman/ conman

Was she hypnotised or what??

She couldn't have been kept bound in a hotel..

In some cave or off-road house, maybe but not in a hotel in a city for 16 months+

Details of this case should be made available before dirt is hurled at us collectively as a people.

Yes there are a few bad eggs within, as is found in every nation..

But I find the press very elusive with details and pseudo-defamatory in outlook.
This story doesn't add up at all!
