The presidency, on Tuesday, alleged that the volume and reach of the anti-corruption crusade so far reflected what the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, left behind.

A presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, said this while reacting to issues raised by the PDP since the beginning of the interrogation of suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari, who is an African Union anti-corruption champion, would not fail Nigerians in the ongoing fight against graft.

He noted that Buhari had assured all Nigerians that he would not be deterred by baseless criticisms by the opposition in his determination to eradicate rampant and chronic corruption.

Shehu, while fielding questions from State House reporters, alleged that corruption became so normalized by the PDP that they had difficulty defining what is “corruption” and “theft”.

He lauded Buhari’s determination to end corruption in the country as responsible for the number of highly publicized charges and cases.

“A large number of cases, new and old, may appear to be daunting but PDP, which is now heckling the President, has forgotten that the party bequeathed this to the current administration.

“They had a large number of cases they did not investigate and prosecute,” he said. Shehu also cautioned the PDP to allow the process of investigation and prosecution to work instead of being preemptive about ongoing cases and unduly agitating the public.

Yes the president is very right. It was the PDP that appointed Magu. It was the PDP that stopped the presidency from seeing what everybody saw about Magu over four years ago. It was the PDP that stopped the presidency from investigation the Tinubu-bullion van episode even though it was directly similar to what the allies of Atiku are being prosecuted for, it was the PDP that allowed an inelligible judge to make a judgement on Orji Uzor-kalu's corruption case which allowed such judgement to be upturned. It is the PDP that is doing everything to frustrate the corruption case against Ize-iyamu. It is the PDP that is stopping the govt from investigating recent corruption allegation against Malami. Even the blind and deaf knows that APC has taken corruption to a new level, PDP laid the foundation, APC consolidated it.

If PDP was very corrupt, must the corruption officer of the present APC regime now be fantastically corrupt?

And Apc appointed magu could not probe and arrest the pdp corrupt politicians? This blame game of the Apc is already stale,besides both Apc and Pdp are thieves.

No government is in abstract, trying to rectify, mindset that have been destroyed and patriotism have gone down the drain cannot be recover due to misrule and quest for survival, it may take even 20 year to correct a one year damage

You are right to an extent, but playing blame games instead of getting to work to correct those things is wrong. If you feel the country is irredeemable, you resign. Just saying.

Garba is right. It was PDP that ensured Magu remained as acting EFCC boss for about 5 years despite several corruption allegation levied against him in 2016 by DSS and then Senate failing to clear him.
It was also PDP that made sure Magu ran EFCC like his personal property and failed to submit yearly EFCC audited account to Senate in over 4 years.
Let's blame PDP for Magu.
