5 star hotel project in bayelsa abandoned for over 20 years. The hotel was designed to be the tallest building in the state and a hotel of aesthetic beauty and excellence that would promote the state’s tourism potential.

20 years on, it's still left to rot.
I blame the company that left their crane there.

Now lets talk about this beautiful castle (pictures attached below) located here in Nigeria. Not many would believe coz the structure looks Roman, Greek or Scottish but it's actually located in Kajuru, Kaduna state ( nairalanders can Google Kajuru castle). It's abandoned but now serves as a tourists sites even though Nigerians don't really give an damn about tourism.
It was built between the years 1981 and 1989, at Kajuru village in Kaduna State, Nigeria by a wealthy German expatriate living in Kaduna back in those days.

The castle is located at about 45 km from Kaduna on a mountaintop in Kajuru village, Kaduna state. It is adorned with turrets, an armory and a dungeon.

The castle has the capacity to contain 150 guests
wowww!!! this place could easily be passed as a place where the movie 'bahubali' was shot.

Don't worry. Just sponsor my dream 1000 bed specialist hospital, it will never be abandoned. Thank you

Vianna:
Construction of the 300 specialist hospital which was spear headed by Namadi Sambo’s administration and was partly funded with a loan from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) with the support of the Kaduna State government. Construction started in 2009 and was scheduled to have been completed in 2012. This is 2020 and it's still left abandoned . Despite promises of previous administrations to complete it.

Corruption my brother. After sharing the money among themselves, the project is thereafter abandoned. Hmmmm. God will help this country

DrayZee:

You should also realize that most of them from Nigeria were government projects, as compared to mostly private property seen from other countries. That's far worse. An individual can die and his projects go abandoned, but what excuse is there for a massive government project to reach near completion and then be abandoned? Isn't that proof that it wasn't necessary in the first place?

If you don't believe the Kajuru castle, you can Google. I've actually been there once around 2007. It looks like a building directly from Rome.

This one isn't abandoned na. Gunmen recently killed some British last year at that castle. Not abandoned

Abandoned snack machine, late 80s-early 90s judging by the brands on display

WWI trench in France's Red Zone, or "Zone Rouge". Large swathes of the Western Front were declared uninhabitable no go zones after the First World War, and highly toxic environments remain. But for much of the Red Zone, the land has recovered its natural life.

Light rays making their way into an abandoned theater.

An abandoned project by the Nigerian government.

It's called vending machine not snack machine. Any product can be put in it and configured into its computerised system. We've had it in it the past too in Nigeria. Can't think of anywhere you will see it again in Nigeria. Indomie children may not know it.

Nice job you're doing with the pictures, Vianna.

The Nigerian school in the last set of pictures on page 1 is actually Igbobi Girls Junior College at Somolu. That particular building was built sometime in the early 2010s but it was substandard. Storm and rain exposed the building's frailties and they had to stop using it. I still believe it can be renovated so I won't label it as abandoned yet as its in a school compound that's still being used, located in a built up urban area that ensures it's in everyone's face unlike many abandoned structures that are in remote places.

I also won't label the Kajuru building abandoned even though the original owners might not be using it as many film and music directors have been using the place over the last five years. You can see from the pictures that it's been renovated and maintained.

Remember Alcatraz? It housed the deadliest criminals in America. Escape is almost impossible, extremely high security and even if you manage to beat that, it's surrounded by shark infested waters. An attempt escape from Alcatraz was a death sentence not until .... Well you know the story..

Alcatraz was closed in 1963.

wow. I believe they actually shot the film "The Rock" here starring Nicolas cage and Sean Connery in 1997.

the film is still dope anytime I watch it.
