I have met troubled ladies that want friendship without love. Reason being that they have always been disappointed trying to love someone. They claim love is dead to them but they are still much very religious.

On conversing with one o them about this. The text above came up. How can you love God when you can not love your fellow you can see.

This made her to change the topic to Eros love since she can not generalize that love is dead.

On talking about Eros love, she avoided using the word friends but kept on talking about romantic love.

On checking the meaning of romantic love, we found it mean romance or attraction resulting to a feeling of love. In other words, romantic love is just a feeling but what she wanted was friendship.

We checked meaning of friendship and found it to mean a relationship of mutual affection between people. Affection was also defined as a kind of love that keeps one feeling secured and cared for.

This definition of affection became her definition of love. That is the love most ladies want, to be cared for. I now reminded her that this is still under friendship. So it is not possible for her to be friends with someone without exchange of love. This is were she lost it finally.

Her next line of defence was casual friends and not being emotionally committed. At this stage is where I have to hit her had. I called her selfish and wicked. Men have their flaws in emotional matters but ladies are the problem since they are the receivers of this affection and not the givers in real sense.

If a man should love a lady, he is accepting all her emotional flaws and character deficits and mood swings. That is the definition of love. But ladies choose who loves them. This has made them created list of standards set for the man to meet not minding that the man is the one making the sacrifice to accept their flaws.

This has become our relationship with God. Romans 5:8, NIV: "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Instead of us to receive the love of God, we began to set standards for God to prove Himself. Deuteronomy 6:4: Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD.

You only set standards when you have options. This has made people talk about a wicked God while a whole lot if others are shouting 'God does not exist'.

Don't put yourself in this confusion. You already know the truth that you have been selfish and want things be done your way and non other. It won't stop the One God from loving you. Not until His grace leaves the earth.

You cant compare romance with Gods love.
Romance means liking what you see or characteristics,

We dont see God so we cant love him that way, and it wont be proper to love him that way. Loving God means keeping his commandments and behaving according to his words.

You understands what you understand. But every element of love defines God, except your definition of romance has to include acts that leads to reproduction.

Then again you dont even understand what you are trying to explain. Do you love God like you love your family, friends, spouse, No cause you have never met him. He clearly stated loving him means keeping his commandments. Yes he said we should love others yes a form of love we can love them cause we see them. That's different from loving God(which is a form of respect and admiration).

No one is arguing about this. The issue is accepting the love of God and not dictating to God how you wished to be loved.

The text said nothing about loving God but receiving the love of God. Your predetermined opinion is a distraction and diversion from the post.

I believe I was talking about the man having the responsibility of loving and the woman with receiving the love of man and comparing it with God having the responsibility of loving and human receiving the love of God.
