Niger Delta Will Look Like Dubai If Funds Properly Utilized. The fantastical corruption going on in NDDC is just a microcosm of what goes on in the Local government and State level in the Niger Delta. The elite corner all the resources and live the rest of the population in abject poverty.

RuudVanNisteroy is beginning to get what majority of Nigerians don’t get or don’t want to get. Of course, there are overriding national ethnic injustices and corruption but our state and local government need held to account firstly. We get state governors working for State and people; we get this Nation working for the most part.

Those hankering after revolution, you first need to archive this in your state. Although I’m not actually a supporter of armed revolution

The Niger Delta States receive funds for development from:

Ministry of Niger Delta
NDDC
13% derivation
State allocation
Local government allocation

Thrillions pumped into the region with to no portable water, drainage system, social security payment for the poor, good road network outside state capitals or good schools.

Development should start at local government and state level. The federal government steps in to complement the efforts and invest in projects beyond the states financial capabilities.

As much as I think Buhari's is the worst leader to ever lead a country. He is not responsible for Niger Delta under development.

The Niger Delta should be a model region in Nigeria now,. With all the resources at their disposal the masses are yet to feel any meaningful difference

Niger delta is criminally underdeveloped in relation to the good the area has been for Nigeria. For Nigeria’s long-term good and to illustrate that government is capable of putting the good of the nation above self-intrest of which ethnic bigotry is part, a marshal plan should be instigated for the Niger delta, with the state governor playing no part.

What if they are not stealing that much but are just rubbish at their job?
The are stealing everything. Go and see how the leaders live like kings.

Bayelsa state were Goodluck Jonathan is from is even the worst state in Niger Delta in terms of development. I am sure 90% of the allocation is looted-they have nothing to show for the huge allocation they have received since 1999.

ODB2- Niger Delta should be managed by the United Arab Emirates,Rwandans,Botswanans,Namibians,British or Dutch. That is the only way you will see development.

If Nigeria is not a model with all the trillions at their disposal, why do you expect Niger-Delta to be a model?

We are tired of hearing about all the looting and mismanagement of funds in Niger delta agencies, it is clear that our so called leaders starting from federal level, state, local govt, & traditional rulers are the ones diverting public funds meant for development of the youths for their personal interest, making the rich richer and the poor to suffer.
make govt just scrap all these corrupt agencies and pay the funds directly to the youth for self development. I think with that everyone would benefit and be happy

Just like 2pac said in changes.....it's time to change the way we live, change the way we treat each other.
And I keep saying that the black people all over the world are our worst enemy. Not the whites, the Japanese or Chinese or Arabs, we Are!
Unless we start taking care of each other the black race will forever remain like this.

Will Niger Delta look like Dubai if the money was properly managed?

I do not doubt it. I will add, Niger Delta will look far better. I say it because Niger Delta has natural water and rich vegetation. The beauty of Dubai is in the waters....most of which is artificial beaches and man made lakes.

So why is the money not well managed by the Delta people?

Someone like Ibori who was convicted by court and served prison time should get a permanent restraint prohibiting from bidding for any government contract or getting awarded one. He should not qualify to ever run for a public office or have relationship with any profit-earning venture in govt at any level. ....if Niger Delta people are serious about becoming a Dubai, that is.

It has nothing to do with mismanagement of funds. The main problem of the so-called Niger Delta is Nigeria.

If a structure is designed to fail, no amount Jesus name invoked in prayers can save the structure. Nigeria is configured for certain section to remain perpetually degraded and for undiscerning onlookers to blame their not-too-smart leaders.

I don't really get you people....no Niger Delta states gets upto 1 billion dollars in allocation every year

nddc gets less than 1 billion a year as allocation

It's far more expensive to construct roads in Niger Delta than most place in Nigeria ....sometimes 5 more than places like abuja roads ....

Niger Delta have one of the most even distribution of development in Nigeria ....we know they lot and steal but they are not different from other leaders in Nigeria

Niger Delta generate over 15 billion dollars a year and gets less than 4 billion a year ...that's absolutely unfair ....we need to give them their oil money so they can hold themselves accountable

U don't steal from someone because he mismanaged his money ...all this are just to kill the call for restructuring

Most governors in South south are working better than any other region in Nigeria

How can u steal 70% of a man's wealth and still have the mouth to say he is not using the 30% well ....is Nigeria using the 70% well ?

Name your state let's see if the governor is better than wike or udom
