Journalism is dead, Osinbajo just chaired the power reforms team in 2020 and not in 2016. All this rubber stamp newspaper will just be attaching the name of the VP in other to have traffic on their page. mtweeeeeeeeew 1 Like |

Fake news from the haters. He has not signed any power deal at all. The shoddy report appears to be referring to 2016, when Fashola was Power Minister and Osinbajo had absolutely NOTHING to do with power. |

okefrancis: That's always the problem with us in Nigeria bro. We are expecting a saviour. The truth is, there's very little Osinbajo can do with the kind of Senate and Reps we have. Can't you see that the system is built on a rotten foundation? Even if Jesus Christ comes to Nigeria today to be the executive president, he'll still fail. If Osinbajo becomes president he'll make the little positive changes he can make and that's all. In fact, people might be disappointed if he doesn't do more than the Constitution permits him to do. That's why we need to dismember this country. This abomination of a nation that serves the interest of only the elites. We need our own country where people will not be trying everything in their power to escape from. We need a country of our own where Yoruba people all over the world would be proud to associate with. We need a country of our own where the fundamental ruling principle is Ọmọlúwàbí. We need a country that supports the aspirations of its people. That country is not Nigeria, can never be Nigeria. Osinbajo can become president. All well and good. But it's not going to translate to anything positive for Yorubaland. Obasanjo was president for 8 years. We are still as backwards as we were in the 50s, maybe even more so. Sorry for the long post. I couldn't help it. |

NGpatriot: Junk Journalism everywhere, the most saddening part of all this is that this junk of a News is published by a supposed reputable Newspaper outlet. My question for that dumb editor, is quite simple. How does a deal signed in 2016 bind on a committee formed in 2020. I hope Orji Uzor Kalu is not playing to the hands of Fake News Peddlers around him.

festacman: Gencos not really at fault ,if the fed (Transco) expands the distribution grid we would have more power. But you are right on the discos, the know that light or no light them go charge and collect their money month end ,so why invest into the discos ? as major shareholders in the discos the fed is looking the other way while the discos refuse to implement the use of pre paid meters. The only way to get steady light in Nigeria is if we dissolve the national grid totally allowing investors to not only generate but distribute power to clients (then the worry would be price of power). It's working in Ariaria with it's ipp ,why don't they allow cities with the means to run their own independent power sector |

fxdee: PDP didn't sign Azura deal that will make FG lose $1.2b . Read and be informed. What necessitated signing such agreement that will push the FG to pay $33m monthly to a power station whether they generate or not? Read before commenting. [b]The Presidential Power Reform Transaction, which was headed by Osibanjo when the deal was struck obligated Nigeria to pay between $30 million and $33 million monthly to Azura for power for powers generated, even if not “dispatched.” |

onyechez: The Azura-Edo IPP is also the first Nigerian power project to benefit from the World Bank’s ‘Partial Risk Guarantee’ structure, specifically created to meet the developing needs of emerging markets world-wide, and political risk insurance for equity and commercial debt from the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency, also part of the World Bank group. Significantly, the overall transaction will be underpinned by financial support provided by the Federal Government of Nigeria through a Put and Call Option Agreement agreed by Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Honourable Minister of Finance; complementing the Power Purchase Agreement that was signed in 2013 between Azura and the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading PLC (NBET). 1. The Power Purchase Agreement was signed by Okonjo back in 2013, we were already on the hook, not going ahead means breach of contract and anti investors atmosphere. FG won’t give sovereign guarantees to power investors, says Fashola 2. In 2018, the FG/Fashola actually saw the problem and categorically stoped and refused to Give Sovereign Guarantees to Power Investors. Stop peddling fake news. |
