Football is a sport that stirs up some of the deepest emotions. As a supporter of a club or a national football team, there are moments that left you in a bad state. Maybe your team lost or something really sad happened. So today, we will be looking at some sad foot all moments, which I'm sure Chelsea fans can relate to.

1. John Terry Penalty Slip

The 2008 UCL final match between Chelsea and Manchester United ended 1-1 and was extended to extra time and penalties. Cristiano Ronaldo missed his penalty for Manchester United and soon it was John Terry's turn to take the kick. He just needed to score and Chelsea would be crowned UCL champions. But he slipped and missed the golden chance. Manchester United ended up winning the UCL trophy after Nicolas Anelka's penalty kick was saved by Edwin Van Der Sar. That remains one of the saddest moments in the history of Chelsea Football Club.

2. Andres Iniesta's Late Equaliser

Chelsea would have had an opportunity to retaliate their loss to Manchester United in the 2008 UCL final, if they had defeated Barcelona in the semi-final in 2009. Essien scored an early goal with a powerful volley and Chelsea saw about five penalty appeals turned down in the match. Andres Iniesta equalised with a late strike and some furious Chelsea players confronted the referee Tom Henning Ovrebo. The game ended 1-1 and Barcelona won via away goal rule.

3. Jose Mourinho's Departure

After his 'miraculous' Champions League triumph with FC Porto, Jose Mourinho came to London and became Chelsea manager. He had a fantastic spell at the club, winning two back-to-back Premier League titles and several other trophies.

But at a point, Mourinho seemed to have a bad season. Chelsea lost to Aston Villa and played out a draw against Blackburn. Then they played another draw against Rosenberg in the UCL. Mourinho resigned and Avram Grant took his place. Mourinho was already so much loved and respected by the club and his departure was really a big blow.

4. Claudio Ranieri's Sack

Even though he may not be among the most talked-about Chelsea coaches, Ranieri remains one of the most important managers in the history of the club. After his remarkable performance at Valencia, Ranieri came to London Club Chelsea.

Ranieri signed players like Lampard, Gallas, Duff, Crespo, Bridge, Mutu, Veron and several others. He brought a great transformation to the club and when he was eventually sacked on May 31, 2004, it was a sad moment for the club.

5. Frank Lampard Leaves Chelsea

Sometimes when you have a player, who is such an asset, you pray he never gets old, so he can play forever. However, reality has to set in and there's always a time for departure. Such was the case of Frank Lampard. He had done everything he could for the club. He helped them win the Champions League, Premier League titles and several other trophies. He also became the player to score the most goals for Chelsea. But when it was time for him to leave on June 3, 2014, it was a sad moment for the club.

6. Liverpool Dash Their UCL Hopes

Chelsea had never been to the UCL final, but they had a chance to do so at the 2006/2007 UCL campaign. Having defeated Liverpool 1-0 at Stamford Bridge, they just needed a draw at Anfield to qualify for the final. But Daniel Agger killed their hopes as he scored for Liverpool. The game extended to extra time and penalties, and Chelsea lost via shoot-out.

8. Frank Lampard's Goal Against Chelsea

This wasn't really a moment of betrayal, given that Lampard didn't celebrate his goal and was almost in tears, after scoring against his former club. However, it seemed quite unbelievable to Chelsea fans that the Lampard they had always loved and respected, would someday wear a Manchester City shirt and score a goal against them.

12. Lampard Loses First EPL Game As Manager

Chelsea supporters were elated to have club legend Frank Lampard return, this time as a coach. But Lampard's first EPL game as manager was disastrous as Chelsea lost 4-0 to rivals Manchester United. A more respectable score line might have been better. And some fans feared Lampard might not last before he gets the sack.
