We are talking of governors building universities in their own villages. Leave the thread if you have nothing to say to the topic.
You must be high, why must governors build universities in their home town Over here, we don't need no fuccking governor to build universities for us, the private sector takes care of that.... Even after your so called Governor built a university in his hometown, is that the best he could give? So mediocre infrastructure, yet a private individual delivered far better structures for his university, upon all the money at his disposal.

Are you saying Tinubu abandoned his community hoping that private sector can come and develop the village? grin

If Ikpeazu did this now you will be here crying, but because it's Tinubu village, you are now waiting for private sector.

I didn't hear you shout "hold your leaders responsible for your underdevelopment "

[s][/s]Trash!!! Tinubu need not build university in his so called home town. There are tons of private universities in osun state far better than your glorified Secondary schools.

Says an OSU from SE republic.

Haaaahhhh!
An osu is someone who suffered severe poverty in Irigbaji, trekked to Lagos, joined the gangs, changed his name to sound like royalty, and then began to prosecute others with similar background.

A super OSU is an idiiiooot paid a few thousands of naira (not dollar) to praise and sing songs for the Lagos osu, and sometimes posted to the internet to defend his criminal boss.

You see my friend, we are two different sets of people in our tribes. If a Tinubu were to rule Anambra or Imo and his village remains like Iragbiji after 6 months of swearing in, he will be stoned on the streets and cannot even return to his house.

[s]But in your clime, it's OK for you to worship a person and call him a great leader, someone who didn't even turn up for his own mother's burial or ever been seen in his own village for over 20 years just because he shared two bullion vans filled with dirty money ? In my tribe he will have no roots and be forgotten.[/s]

Stick to your little villages affairs then. Of what use is opening countless threads on tinubu to the development of your mud houses? or the economic development of your villages. Is he a government official in any of those little hamlets of yours?
People renounce their country everyday and you are here complaining of someone not visiting his village, how many of your uncles have adopted oyinbo countries?many have sworn never to come back while others have been gone for more than 40 years but it's tinubu not going to his village that's giving you nightmares.
I hope you don't run mad because of tinubu matter one day

Professor of Tinubu's Affairs,

I hope you know that anyone has a right to bear whatever names that he/she fancy?

Bill Clinton, the former President of the US was born as Williams Jefferson Blythe-111 but later adopted the name Bill Clinton.

I hope you also know that the names 'Buhari' and 'Atiku' were both adopted and not the names of their fathers?

Iragbiji is not a ghost town, it is a very big and popular town in Osun State. It is the headquarters of Boripe local government. The OP’s claim that there is only one upstairs in the town is completely false and ridiculous. You Igbos should face your states and stop this nonsense.

Why are you bringing the Igbos in, in every anti Tinubu post?
So no one else from other tribes even the yorubas, talks about Tinubu?
Why do Yorubas hate Igbos like this?

As much as I want to refrain from harsh words, truth must be told.. outsiders can't dictate to Yorubas in Yorubaland (South West). I don't know why you lots can't mind your region and face your useless, corrupt leaders keeping your ancestral lands in perpetual poverty.

A Yoruba from Benin Republic has more right in Yorubaland than a shukudi from far away SE.

No be una fault sha.. 'too much familiarity brings contempt'. Na Yorubas give una chance.

The problems with most people on Nairaland is that they don't read widely and most have limited education which makes it very difficult to have intellectual discussions like we do on Reddit or Quora on this forum.

This is worsen by the fact that most of these people like to force their opinions on everybody and wish everyone just accept such opinions unquestioned.

Why are you shifting the goal posts?

I have just told you that people have rights to bear, change or even adopt any name they like. I even cited examples from the US and from this country but you are now talking about moving to Kano and such funny stuff that are unrelated to the subject matter.

Your assertions that Buhari and Atiku made these names great and popular are borne out of ignorance about the origins of these names.

It's just like saying Peter Okoye of P-Square made the name 'Peter' great and popular.

The President was named Muhammad (corrupted to Muhammadu in local Parlance) and he adopted the name Buhari from Muhammad Al-Bukhari, the 7th century Persian Islamic Theologian/Scholar who was a native of the city of Bokhara, now in Uzbekistan. He compiled the most authentic Hadiths called 'Sahih Bukhar' which is highly reverred next to the Glorious Quran among Muslims.

Bukhari or the corrupted local version Buhari/Buari simply means 'a native of the city of Bokhara'

The former Vice President was named Abubakar after Sultan Abubakar Atiku (the 3rd Sultan of Sokoto Caliphate) who himself was named after Abu Bakr As-Siddiq Ateekulah, the first Khalifa Russullah, companion and Father-in-law of Prophet Muhammad.

In the core North, a male child named Abubakar may also adopt the appellation, Sodiq or Atiku (the corrupted local version of Ateekulah among the Fulanis).

Gov Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State is one of such people who adopted the name 'Atiku'.

A child named Ibrahim or Usman may adopt the appellation 'Sheu' if they are named after Sheu (sheiks) Ibrahim Niyas of Senegal or Usman Dan Fodio of Sokoto Caliphate e.g Ex -Gov Ibrahim Sheu Shema of Katsina State and Ex President Usman Sheu Shagari.
