COVID-19: ‘Nigeria Witnessing Worst Economic Challenges’ – Osinbajo by TheRareGem1(f): 6:12am On Jul 28, 2020 |
Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo says Nigeria is witnessing its worst economic challenges in history as a result of COVID-19 pandemic. The Vice President said this in his message at the 11th Synod of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), adding that the nation is now earning 40 per cent less than it should because oil prices have fallen and few today can afford to pay taxes. He said:- “There was a day in April when oil, our precious oil was selling for less than the cost of production. No one was even willing to buy. “Suddenly all we took for granted, from air travel to hugs and even handshakes have become neither safe nor advisable. “The sum and substance of what I am saying is that these past few months have shown us that human ingenuity and planning cannot even assure us that we will live to see the next day. “Any hopes built on the foundation of human understanding and effort is a shaky and unsure foundation and is bound to fail when the storms and the turbulence come.” The Vice president, however, said he was hopeful that Nigerians and all people around the world will survive the despair, pain and other consequences associated with the pandemic. “Everything around us has been shaken and is being shaken by the greatest global threat to mankind in a century. “We’re in the midst of the greatest economic slump in history; every region of the world is experiencing an unprecedented slowdown in growth. “It’s my firm belief that by the grace of God, very soon, this pandemic will be defeated,” he said. https://www.247acemedia.com/covid-19-nigeria-witnessing-worst-economic-challenges-osinbajo/

Covid-19 will be excuse for their 4 years failed governing. Goodluck and PDP was their excuse for their 1st term failure. If PDP eventually enter, they will blame Apc. The circle continues. |

Ema feeko tanna funwa je Akpabio and the fainting man and North East development commission and NNpc should be seriously looked into and dealt with. We need an example and scape to send a strong warning |

SmartProf: Even with the plague, they are still able to continue governance by bringing out stimulus packages, empowerment for households and business owners, 80% discout for MSMEs on registration of products with NAFDAC etc. A way to prevent the nation's economy from sinking |

Despite that, we're still moving forward. The economy downturn now is WORSE compared to that of GEJ's (clueless) administration who still led us into recession. God bless The Federal Republic of Nigeria |

In fact this year has been the worst year so far in the history of Nigeria and the whole world entirely. But let us thank God for this government, despite the pandemic, the country is still pressing forward. |

We are witnessing this much economic downtime basically because of the pandemic. We know we will bounce back stronger with the ESP underway. 1 Like |

When Buhari's administration is being vilified by coming generations, your name will be mentioned as part of the failed administration. Punishing soldiers for demanding better welfare on the war front while releasing terrorists who were arrested back into the society. Looking askance while Fulanis kill, maim and rape Southerners. Unconcerned as bandits engage in systemic ethno-religious cleansing of the various middle belt ethnic groups. Folding your arms as grand scale looting defines your presidency even as the minister of finance has turned to minister of borrowing. Looking the other way when we talk about Leah Sharibu. History will not be kind with all of you, both in PDP and APC. |

Tranquillity360: YES. PDP had enough resources instead, they squandered the monies and go on vacations and even ordered pizza from USA but APC, unfortunately, met very limited resource yet have invested and investing in nation building; infrastructure( Roads, bridges, rail, aviation, modular refinaries etc) human capital development and many more. Imagine APC was ruling at the time of PDP. Nigeria would have been more developed. |

PremierGuy: Gone quiet you say? after giving us ESP for economic recovery, coordinated MSMEs award, held PEBEC meeting, challenge Nigerian youths to use this pandemic and bring out the opportunities from it, held presidential power reform, he virtually commissioned Zaki Biam yam market in Benue state and many more. |
