TewMuch: Dude, did you drink milk as a child? Cos something is very wrong here. Your answer qualifies as one of the daftest set of words to hit the internet. Damn! You mean GEJ should leave Abuja and take responsibility for governor Sylva's actions? What was your IQ again? I can bet you are jealous of fishes! |
Re: Corruption In Bayelsa State by TewMuch: 10:23pm On Feb 10, 2011 |
Beaf: My guy you are losing your touch. GEJ is responsible for $22bn missing. DO you think it is N22bn. I know they have blinded you with greed. Return the money, mumu thieves. Small time crooks, una neva see meme. They did a bad job emplying you, because we will finish your political ambition on this site. Imagine this daft pig saying a president was not mentioned in an article that states that $22bn is missing from the ECA, so the president is not responsible. You are really losing your touch. Beaf: |

Kilode?!: Anybody you vote for will have to work with the exact same people GEJ is working with (maybe even a worse crowd), so out goes your principle. But, I must say I understand exactly where you are coming from, but the World (especially Nigeria) isn't black and white. I'll say to look at those areas GEJ has silently changed despite the crew around him, and there have been some Earth moving changes. Who ever believed that one day the almajiri would be getting set for Western education? Who ever believed that a President would have the temerity to stare the likes of Shell in the eye and dare them to a game of blink? All oil contracts have been suspended until the PIB is passed. Nobody else sought to bring such defining changes to Nigeria's economic landscape; please take time to read up on the PIB and what it means for the country. GEJ will be remembered as one of Nigeria's greats, cos he is the first to put us firmly on the right path to self belief and development. Don't waste your vote, also spread the word. |

By the beginning of this year, the fund had trickled down to about $300 million, according to reports in the Nigerian media. Officials with the Finance Ministry did not respond to calls for comment this month, but about $15 billion was spent in 2010 alone, Ms. Kalema said. Was GEJ president in 2010 or not. Idiot!!! Ole barawo banza! Make una return the money. Chai! Nigeria has suffered, too many daft people at its helms. |

TewMuch: Why can't you talk to your governor about what he did with his federal allocation? Or are you from the Sahara? Your state probably generates zero money unlike Sokoto, Lagos and the ND, but you are here shouting about monies given to you lazy leaches. |
Re: Corruption In Bayelsa State by Kilode1: 10:55pm On Feb 10, 2011 |
Beaf: Well, Since Nigeria is not ripe enough for a sweeping knife-them-all Revolution. I'll concede that any democratically elected leader will need to work with at least a few of these laggards. But working with them or accommodating them while you push for change will be easier if they do not have the kind of influence they seem to have in PDP. People like Anenih, OBJ, Alams(I consider him a nonentity small fry though) and a host of other establishment career kingmakers have too much power in PDP. I want GEJ to work on getting rid of those f.ools. They believe Nigeria belongs to them and their descendants and if you understand how addictive power is, you will realize that preaching to these people or tolerating them will not change that mindset. I've read about the PIB, I'm glad Shell and co hates it( I like almost everything Big Oil hates)but I will wait for it to pass before I celebrate, actually I will wait ten years after it's implementation before I celebrate. I'm not really worried about those initiatives. I'm sure GEJ can pass a few bills and ruffle a few feathers but you and I know that our country needs revolutionary, radical, structural changes. I'm not convinced GEJ will be allowed to make those changes. I'm not sure he's radical enough to resist those who benefit from the status quo. I may be wrong, but I believe i've studied my country enough to make some informed guesses. This is a win-win situation for me, even if I'm on the wrong side of history, I'll still be happy If GEJ can radically change Nigeria. For the sake of my people, I hope I'm wrong about GEJ. |

Kilode?!: I feel you, but a revolution is not what you expect from the ballot box; you get that if you are lucky (like Chavez and Venezuella). A revolution is also a thing that has ugly sides and could flip either way. At this point in our national evolution, a revolution will most likely give way to wanton bloodshed and despondency; it will be Jos times a million. GEJ is a very quiet person, the type that plots silently; so he would never fit in the usual mould of radical or revolutionary; rather, we will simply notice that while no one was looking, a lot of things changed. He is the exact sort we need to deal skillfully with the criminals in high places, and to his credit, he has won every single battle against them, not with the usual Nigerian display of power and aggression, but with persuasion, triangulation and intelligence. As they say, GEJ is the type that can convince a monkey to leave banana's for good. The fact that GEJ is a gate to new possibilities is beyond dispute. In so many ways, his coming on the scene has raised the bar in politics, from responsible and transparent primaries in PDP to deference to law courts. More than all of the above though, is the uprooting of the cabal; they are now running to and fro in search of a political home, they ran from IBB to Atiku and are now congregating with Buhari. The cabal is the biggest impediment to Nigeria's development and the fact that they are in a battle to the death with GEJ is my overarching reason for giving him unflinching support. The cabal must be uprooted from our political landscape and decimated, GEJ is the only one placed to do the job by fate, destiny, disposition or geography. Talking about true federalism, development and the defeat of corruption without the routing of the cabal is really a waste of time and effort. |
Re: Corruption In Bayelsa State by Kilode1: 1:22am On Feb 11, 2011 |
^^ I hear you bro, I hope you and GEJ are right with this containment strategy. Maybe I'm overestimating the resilience and influence of the "owners of Nigeria" I don't think so though. BTW, I do not support bloody violent revolution, except in extreme cases where we are left with no other choices. I actually prefer a cultural revolution, but I agree with you, we won't achieve much until we curb the power and influence of the Ruling Cabal. |

Whilst I agree that Nigerians have every right to ask questions, I think we should all be mature and tone down the sort of language we use against Goodluck. To say a sitting President Swindled money from Nigerians is a very strong word to use, especially when no one has concrete evidence. That doesnt mean, points should not be made, but in a more subtle, responsible way. I am not Goddies biggest fan, but I still think we should accord him some respect |
Re: Corruption In Bayelsa State by Nobody: 10:39am On Feb 11, 2011 |
^^^ it is the fallout of the underhand tactics of the band of deceitful despicable agberos representing gej on nairaland. people who have no qualms about peddling blatant outright falsehoods - ibb sharia university, ribadu 'assets', buhari billions and so on and so forth. the same little effeminate twats who start throing insults then running around and bleating like beaten animals when they are slapped in their own coin. anyway, gej lost the right to expect respect a very loooong time ago. bloody effing liar with dubious reforms. did you read the customs thread? apparently all those ban reversals are nothing but hot air. ditto for the 4000mw, which has mysteriously dropped to under 3500mw. and some of his loudest political supporters seem to have the making of russian dictators his nl supporters are 90% borderline illiterates abegi |

My Brother, I understand your annoyance, but that does not mean we must throw civility out of the door. if we call Goddy all the awful names under the sun, I wonder what we expect from outsiders. We must be careful the way we treat our own. I do accept that he has not done well, and I do get irritated when his 3 monekys defend the indefencible, but we must all show some restraint. Believe me, I am not a Goodluck Jonathan fan, but I wont be party to this public lynching, especially when we are going to start calling our own President a Swindler There are more suble ways to go about this, and believe me I am not suggesting for one bit that he shouldnt be taken to task, neither am I going to be voting for him. |
Re: Corruption In Bayelsa State by Nobody: 10:55am On Feb 11, 2011 |
ACN said while it would not want to match President Jonathan on the use of foul language, it will, however, advise him to remember that he remains the president of all Nigerians, not that of the PDP and its supporters, even when “he is giddy with excitement on the soap box. you're right |

Until you go there yourself and put a face to this article you would not understand the extent of the corruption. Bayelsa state capital has just two major roads, one of which is new and not used often the other is the main bayelsa all the houses are to the left and and a few to the right of this road. As for the hotels, I went round most of them and they would compete with hotels in towns like PH, the one I stayed in for a few days "La tik" was very beautiful had very beautiful standard rooms with 24 hours light and flat screen tv's, fully airconditioned for guess what 5k a night. I began to wonder if this was a business or just for dash dash. The state is finished, the only thing they do is go and collect money at the end of every month and proceed to the hotels to spend it. SMH and someone is here shouting that GEJ is fresh air Chemical Ali must be having a laugh in his grave. |

i have always said, resource management is our problem in this country. See Bayelsa state with barely 3 million people and close to $2 billion dollars in cash revenues a year with the grinding terrible poverty prevalent there. Very little to show for that money (may be except for the government house, castle) Go to small Gombe state. Same population with about $400 million dollars in a year. See how a former local government headquarters is being transformed unto a modern state capital at a dizzying pace. Good road network, specialist hospitals, airport, schools, housing estates, municipal water supply, University (small, beautiful and well maintained). More towns and villages are being connected to electricity, boreholes and clinics. i am not from there but I admire that state and Bauchi under Mr Muazu (in fact he was the one that once cautioned that without resource management, resource control will achieve little; he was denounced). This article raises fundamental questions about the entire moral fabric of the Nigerian elite and the active connivance of the followership. the problem is so fundamental that cleaning the stable might take a generation. A strong and sustained change will only seep through the entire country through the instrumentality of strong, swift punishment system, institutional reforms and national reorientation. Things are bad, really bad. |
