30 Days Lockdown Without Friends And Social Media [experience] by Bloghomies(m): 2:49pm On Aug 01, 2020
I'm back from my one month challenge without social media.

I never thought I could pull it off lol, but I did it. Today marked 30 days without social media.

You might be asking, why did you do it?

I tried answering that question at first, but along the process something happened.

Something I never thought was possible. The initial aim was to apply discipline and gain mastery of my usage.

But I ended up learning deep truths that have utterly changed my perception of life.

I mean, I battled with existential crisis and boredom. For the first time, I was thinking about life, and it's meaning.

True happiness comes not from acquiring, but being content with what you have. The beauty of life lies only in simplicity.

I began to appreciate the beauty in minimalism.

I began to perceive success from a different standpoint, and the enlightenment shattered my essence.

If you do not define success, someone will define it for you.

Success is not about getting a house, getting as many cars as possible. That is a life of shallowness.

Folks who have arrived at a point where money is not an issue, still battle with with mood swings every now and then, even depression.

Stop making unnecessary sacrifices just to acquire a fiat currency!

The aim should not be to make money, but to gain financial freedom - to live above it.

Although in the end, our time and overall existence on earth was for nothing.

The deep truth remains, we are all part of a big cosmos joke.

How did life began? There are thousands of explanation cutting through different languages, race and tribes.

So far, only science seems to dig up facts supporting evolution. But then again, don't be furious.

Why furious, are you God? Don't fight his battles and look at this reasoning.

It is worth going through life, being open minded that what you might have known could be wrong.

It is also important, to build your intelligence by going outside of your comfort zone

Learn a little about human psychology, and understand the root of every belief before you accept.

When you see something and it sounds too good to be true, it is a scam.

Success is not a right line. The only way you can achieve success is by discovering your gift and solving a problem with it.

Why worry about wealth, if in the end it was all for nothing? Why worry at all, if you're but an insignificant atom in this gigantic observable Universe?

Why worry about death, if you'll never recall what will happen, just as before you were born?

You see, you have no reason to worry. You learn to do the things you can change, and learn to live with the things you can't change.

You make the world a better place, when you treat others as you would to yourself.

Just enjoy the moment, be grateful for being a one lucky-ass specie that was able to grow intelligence and consciousness of self.

Walk with pride, cause you could be the only civilization in the universe to attain our technological feats.

Through my challenge, it was as if I got a new brain upgrade. Although my imperfection was glaring, and social media was not there to distract me.

30 days without friends and social media... Was it worth it? I would say YES!

My life can never be the same again. You can only gain self enlightenment and deep meaning of self when you eliminate your distractions.

My distraction was social media. Perhaps yours is that favorite forum, blog, Games, Drugs.

When you eliminate these distractions and delve into solitude for a week or month, you'll discover deep meaning about yourself.

If you're living alone, you're one lucky bastard!

Trust me, the knowledge of who you are ensures you get whatever you want in life without wavering.

That's because you understand you need them and as thus, deserve them.

A week or a month in solitude, without the distractions you've accumulated will change your life.

In the end, you'll understand that your worries are insignificant.

You will understand that living your best life should be the aim. Toiling away in a 5 - 9 job is not worth it.

A job that stops you from having time with your family, friends or other important commitments is not worth it.

When you gain deep meanings of life, you'll understand that life is better spent accumulating assets, building businesses and offering to charity.

But the gurus who have hacked reality will tell you that life is better spent living in a tiny off-grid home, keeping life simple by always decluttering.

These are folks who boast of having only 10 items in life, and they could all fit in a small backpack.

Pheeewww.. What is life?

This old aged question might never be answered. But then again, why worry? Please my dear, live in the moment, and worry about the things you can change.

Get ready to start that business you've been dreaming... In that death bed, your only regret will be the things you didn't do!

It is left for you to define YOUR success. My definition might only align with what gives me happiness. Thus, it might be wrong for you!

But if you insist, I would say success is when I've attained happiness and fulfillment.

For now, I'm still hungry lol.

If only you had defected laziness, you would have deduced from the article that it isn't about social media, but something more.

Before you criticize or air your view about a subject, it is paramount to get the full gist, to avoid making a blunder. This entails reading the article to the end.

Not just for online articles, but life in general.

Do stay safe and don't forget, practice social distancing.

The more original a mind becomes, the more it inclines toward the thirst for solitude.

I'm glad to see we still have Nigerians that think this way. Everyone needs to embrace solitude often, the constant need for other peoples admiration and acceptance robs us of our own personal identities.

I just started practicing stoicism as well. I last visited my Facebook page in 2015 and deleted useless apps like Instagram et al from my phone. Life has never been better since I started doing all this.

I'm sure you are now happier, contented, and more focused.

During my solitude, I discovered how a man can live a life of happiness, joy, and fulfillment.

It is not by accumulating material wealth, it is a feeling. A feeling of not giving a fu*k about people's view of success.

I watched a video of a couple living in an off-grid tiny house in the middle of nowhere.

They had everything they need, even solar panels and biogas machines.

They are happy, away from the noises of civilization, closer to nature.

When you see such people live their best life with less, it gets you questioning your perception of life.

That is my dream upon retirement, to live off-gride and get in tune with SELF.

Success on your journey!
