GamalNasser: I'm sorry, but I'm not the one posting a seemingly contradictory message that goes like 'they want to kill USSD again'. Sounding like some frustrated lunatic. But then again, mad people yapa. All the shit you typed, take it elsewhere. |

joviegghead: You clearly don't even understand how USSD is charged and you just jumped in and started talking.. In the past USSD failed to power financial services because banks were made to pre buy USSD session down for their customers to use but that cost was too much for any bank to bear and that made USSD redundant for year till the charge centre was pivoted so as to make the customers bear it quietly and boom USSD services picked up in banking and today we are at about and average of of 30 million successful transactions a month and everyone is okay and satisfied ..What the govt is saying now is akin to saying Banks or Networks should bear the cost of every data you use when you open your banking app...does that make sense ..Trust me if the customers don't bear the cost of USSD them USSD will die .. the NCC wrongly keeps calling it a sunken cost but it's not , it's only a sunken cost at the Telco end but when a third party gateway is activated every session must be borne ... I hope you even understand a thing I said |

Are the telecom operators saying ussd charge is free since inception? It's definitely NO. They must have been receiving payments from financial institutions or corporate entities who has agreements with them. So why do they want to change from the current method? I guess they want to charge the customer more than the initial amount received from partners. |

But the banks would end up charging us for it naaa? Banks charge us for SMS because they are the ones sending it to us, while telcos charge us for data use of which USSD is about the same thing. I recall those days when you were charged for checking your airtime balance ....the telcos later canceled it. Islie: |
