That is not how to conclude on a one side of a story heard.
The detained man has his story
The king, Ooni, has his own story.
The DSS acted on the story told them by Ooni.

The story narrated by the activits, Olawale Bakare “Mandate” And Sahara Reporters is half truth before venturing to conclude like this

What was the content of the message sent to Ooni?
Sahara Reporters et al don’t know.
Was the detained guy saying the whole truth and nothing but the truth?
They don’t know.

What if the DSS have detained the guy for stealing a phone belonging to the king’s associate and sending messages to the king?
They don’t know.

Some times the DSS also go on to act on their own after lodging a report to them, which could have also happened in this case. The Ooni might even have forgotten reporting a case like this.
The DSS should not have detained and held the man incommunicado, he should have been allowed to speak to his lawyer

What if, What if. So even you don't have the complete story.
You are upset that someone concluded that it is wrong based on a one-sided report, what about a person that has been detained for weeks without charges (ie Ooni's side of the story)?!

Honestly, reason it, what could a Keke rider have sent to the Ooni that will warrant his detention (and as you observed languishing in cell). If he has committed a crime, prosecute him.

This is simply a case of the powerful against the weak, as was the case in Buhari's daughter sim card case last year. I can almost see the "deal with him" order being given.

They are relying on the victim's story. And since they alleged that he sent the message and the Sim wasn't found with him, they can't give details of the said message.

Just like, accusing of stealing something and that thing was never found anywhere in or around you.

Instead "just like you are accusing someone of stealing a car which plate number is found in your custody without the car grin"

Dear Brother, there is one very important principle or natural justice which says "AUDI ALTERAM PARTEM" meaning " Let the other side be heard as well". Let's wait and listen to Ooni side of the story before arriving at a conclusion.

I'm not concluding base on this issue sir, I'm saying this base on what's been happening in the country so far.

Nigeria never really had democracy. Only dictatorship.
Even the dictatorship then wasn't as bad as of now.

Until Ooni media aide give a response to this, I will not give my verdict... Who knows it might be a death threat message. But Sahara reporter should intensify their efforts to get to the root of the matter...

The Ooni will not want to give out the text message. He has messed up already. Arresting someone without proper investigation.

The report confirmed the phone that was used to send the message was found with the Keke rider..

What is the period for lawful detention in Nigeria? You don't detain people for that long because of a text message. This isn't about what the story is, it is about fundamental rights.

The ooni can sue if he feels he was wronged

Just want to correct impression of my brother that, the judiciary is not doing it best, the DSS that arrested same guy has reason and also judiciary is also institution on his own that help voiceless citizen, if you look from the beginning of this world till today, you can't find it in any news paper when judiciary we say pls bring your case to court by doing the advertisement , it left for the family and well meaning Nigeria to assist the man and resolve the matter.
