The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated traditional rulers in Esan land for rejecting candidate of the All Progressives Congresses (APC) in the forthcoming gubernatorial election, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, at the palace of the Onojie of Igueben, HRH Ehizojie Eluojierior II. State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chris Nehikhare, who spoke on behalf of the PDP Campaign Council, said "the treatment handed the APC candidate and his campaign guide, Adams Oshiomhole, was the fulfillment of a Bible prediction that the sins of fathers will be visited upon their sons." Nehikhare said: “We read with delight a news report on the rejection of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the September 19 gubernatorial election, Osagie Ize-Iyamu and his campaign guide, Adams Oshiomhole by Esan Monarchs at the palace of the Onojie of Igueben, HRH Ehizojie Eluojierior II on Monday August 10, 2020.” He noted that: “The APC does not deserve anything less than the harsh reception its members received in Igueben,” and assured the opposition party that “worse treatments await their campaign train as they move from ward-to-ward in the state.” He stressed, “Edo people do not want thugs and assassins in their political space anymore. I congratulate our traditional rulers in Esan land for rejecting the opposition party and its candidate. Governor Obaseki has raised the bar with regard to the quality of people that should occupy Edo State Government House. “He is a credible candidate; he is sophisticated and relies on the rule of law to provide purposeful governance. Edo people are comfortable and Okay with him. “We also read that the two APC leaders embarked on war of words after their rejection by the Esan traditional rulers in Igueben. Again, this confirms the fears we have expressed at several fora that the APC candidate and his tour guide are merchants of violence and we have urged security agencies to monitor their activities closely, so that they will not disrupt the September 19 poll.” The media reported on Monday that Oshiomhole, Ize-Iyamu engaged in war of words over their rejection by Esan Monarchs. The report said: “Efforts by candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 19 gubernatorial election, Osagie Ize-Iyamu to make inroads into Edo Central Senatorial District, were on Monday rejected as he was sent out of the palace of the Onojie of Igueben, HRH Ehizojie Eluojierior II. “A palace source who witnessed the humiliation of the APC candidate, who was in company of the former national chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole, said the unwanted visitors were told to leave Esan land as the APC neglected the region for the eight years Oshiomhole was governor of the state. According to the report: “The two unwanted visitors engaged in hot exchange of unpleasant words in Igueben, after they were told to leave Esan land by the monarchs who had converged on Igueben for the cold reception. “In the ensuing hot exchange of words, Ize-Iyamu blamed Oshiomhole for his woes in Esan land and other parts of Edo State where they have faced similar rejection, since the party commenced campaigns. “We overheard Oshiomhole saying he couldn’t be blamed for all Ize-Iyamu’s problems. The former APC national chairman said there can be no smoke without fire, and told the governorship candidate to be courageous enough to take responsibility for some of his past actions.” “The monarchs also cited the humiliation and dethronement of the Onojie of Uromi, His Royal Highness Anselm Aidenojie II, for their action, the report added |

Dansuqi:APC won 40% in 2016/19 fine. Now most people in APC have decamped to PDP in Esanland, and beside that most Esan people are aware of Esan Agenda, which is to produce next Governor by 2024,and Obaseki has promised that,so for now we don't care if he fulfil his part of the bargain, but we will fulfill ours by voting for him. |

Notatribalist: I'm not a local and do not belong to any political party, but history tells me since the APC came into national prominence, it's been winning most elections at the state level, while the PDP has won most elections at the national level, in Edo State. That's the reasonable conclusion to draw from the fact that Mr. Oshiomhole won in every one of the 18 LGA's in Edo State — including Esan land — in 2012 as he was re-elected the Governor of the state on his usual platform of their party, the APC. In addition, all the current elected and serving members of the State House of Assembly — including of course those representing Esan land — were elected on the platform of the APC. So, where's your boast coming from? And for good measure, the coming election is at the state level where the APC has been the decisive winner in recent memory. So, again, where's your boast/assertion coming from? I'm not claiming to be a soothsayer on the coming election for the governorship seat in Edo State, but analyses like I've stated above clearly do not support your worldview. But hey, what do I know, right? Good luck! ........ P34c3 1 Like |

duwdu:I don't knw where you got your statistics from, but in any case let me use your statistics to prove why Esan will vote for PDP.Your analysis proved that Esans are not partisan, we rather vote for candidate instead of party. And as it stands today who do you think is more saleable between POI that's not tested yet and Obaseki that has been tested?Of course Obaseki..Let's even assure my above reasons won't count, now see why Esan will vote PDP... 1,Obaseki has promised to handover to Esan man,i think that's appealing enough to support him. 2.Oshiomole is no more in the good book of Esan people, I guess you watched the video of what transpired at iguenben palace yesterday? Fine, you may say Oshiomole is not the one contesting, but obviously Oshiomole has took it upon himself to make sure iyamu wins,so voting against APC is a way of punishing Oshiomole for disrespecting our monarchs and by extension Esanland.Hope this helps |

Notatribalist: You've tried small, but you've not used my statistics to prove any contrary facts, you're simply speculating. HRH, when Adams Oshiomole did the same in 2014, I believe you were still on the throne then, what did you say to that? If you are not opposed to Adams doing it then, and you're against what Obaseki did sir, what right have you, to still preside over the affairs of that kingdom till now? This is because, truth, justice, fairness are the fulcrum, upon which that throne was founded. Anyone who lacks any of those qualities, have no right ascending the through With due respect his highness. 1 Like |

duwdu: Your comment should show you how conscious and serious the Edos are about their leaders. Mind you APC as it stands does not control all the state HOA seats now. PDP holds sway in some senatorial districts. When you hear "Edo no be Lagos", it is all about showing that the Edos are not politically blind or ignorant. When Oshiomole defeated Anenih on the premise that godfatherism must end, it was all about trust, the popularity of Oshimole from his trade union days and the people getting tired of Igbinedion/Anenih/poor leadership. No one else aside from Oshiomole could have defeated Anenih in Edo state just as it is now clear that Obaseki is on a success tragectory now in Edo state. Obaseki is easily able to defeat Oshiomole/POI in a free and fair election. If the election is turned violent as is the style of APC (Kogi and Osun come to mind) Obaseki will match them. If Oshiomole was able to silence Anenih, who says Obaseki cannot silence him too? With Obaseki, Edo state is in safe hands. |
Re: Edo 2020: Williams Okuagban Condemns Obaseki Over Edo Assembly Invasion by Arabiandude: 10:42pm On Aug 11, 2020 |
Paramount01:He will win, let me tell you how. POI is more popular to the binis than Obaseki and he will win those remote villages and with most of the bini warlords and money bags backing him, he will win Edo South. Shaibu will be fighting both Gani Audu and Oshiomhole and all HOR members from Edo north, also the senator representing Edo north, so Ize-iyamu will surely win Edo north. Obaseki will win Edo Central (Esan, simply because he has promised to handover to an Esan man after his next 4 years if he wins re-election). Obaseki is in PDP but have you heard the Igbinedion house supporting him? They simply support Ize-iyamu. Most likely Edo richest man, Capt Hosa Okunbor, he is supporting Ize-iyamu and this is someone that the binis likes, that's why Obaseki recently had to apologise to him when there was an issue. And, don't let the Edos on social media deceive you, Oshiomhole as Governor was made an abducted son to the Oba palace during the reign of the former Oba and he is a very good friend with the current Oba, same with Capt Hosa Okunbor who is touted as the next Esama of Benin Kingdom. So, I am so sure that Ize-iyamu will win but either he will rule well is another thing, that I can't tell you or vouch for because no one knows the heart of a man until you give him power. 1 Like |
