Is Your Name In The Book Of Life?

As devout Christians, constant self assessment should be a daily and, even hourly exercise; "Is my name in the book of Life?"

The way I spoke? My thoughts? My attitude towards God, my spouse and other people? Is there bitterness or malice in my heart? My response to provocation? Was I totally truthful in the account I gave? Etc. Some prefer to blame others for their negative behaviours. Pitiable, but no excuse will be acceptable on that day. Our Pastor will also not be there to attest to our character. He will be too busy giving his own account.

"Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?" (2Cor 13:5).

YE SHALL RECEIVE POWER

"Ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you; and ye shall be witnesses unto Me"... everywhere you find yourself (Acts1:8).

Power has been promised the believers in Christ. His arrival in your life is known by Him giving you utterances in an unknown tongue. It is the Power to "...set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant" (Jer 1:10). That is, for the purpose of expanding the Kingdom of heaven, and for depopulating the kingdom of hell.

But power must go with purity of heart and motives. For instance, It is not for showoff, nor to dominate and oppress others. It is also not to make merchandise of vulnerable people who are miracle and solution seekers.

Holy Ghost power does not operate in a sinful life. If you see anything that seems like Holy Ghost power working in an individual who is known to indulge in habitual sin, it is a familiar spirit working; beware (Acts 8:9-24).

Power without purity will kill the carrier eventually. Seek purity of heart and holiness. Bear fruits of holiness and love, and your spiritual pipe will enjoy the ceaseless flow of the power of the Spirit of the living God. Amen. See less

YOU MUST BE ACCOUNTABLE!

Unfaithfulness in the matters of money has been the reason many believers are languishing in hell today, and it will still be the reason many will miss an eternity with God except we change our reckless and careless attitudes in the matters involving money. Remember Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-10), Gehazi (2Kings 5:20-27) and Judas Iscariot.

You bought something for the Church or a group and they asked you, "Brother/Sister, please come and give reports and account for what you bought". But instead of you to go calmly to render the account, you became angry, "Why should they be asking me to give account on what I bought for my Church, am I a thief?". Brother/Sister, it is so that you will not be a thief that you will need to give reports and be accountable for what you purchased. Do you not know they are helping you to clear yourself before man and God before the day of reckoning?

Whether you know how or not, and whether you like it or not, giving account is what we will all do at the gate of heaven before God and before we will be allowed to enter our eternal home. You had better got used to it down here now!

"So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God" (Rom 14:12).

Down here you can render account and apologize for your slack and intentional or unintentionally oversight. But, up above, there's no excuse that will be entertained, if you're found wanting, you will be summarily dismissed from entering into heaven, no mercy for your theft and wrong doing, no matter who you are. "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment" (Heb 9:27).

Sister, your husband gave you money specifically to make some payments or buy some agreed items, you made the payment or bought the items, and afterwards, somehow, you got to have some change left with you. But instead of remitting the money and rendering the account to your husband, you kept quite and pocketed the change. Sister, you will give account eventually! You only get to choose the venue; here or up at the gate of eternity.

Brother, your wife kept some money in her purse or anywhere else, and you helped yourself to some amount and spent it without informing your wife. Your wife ought to have taken note but due to one reason or the other she failed to discover that someone had taken her money so she didn't ask you, and you kept quite, you say after all it's your wife's money and you're the head of the family. Brother, you will give account, either here or up there above, choose the venue.

Young believer, your parent sent you on an errand with money to make some payments or purchases, you ran the errand and was left with some change in your hand. But instead of you to give account to your parent, you say the change is too small so there's no need to give account. OK, you're free to choose the venue of your accountability; here on earth or up above at the gate of heaven. Whichever way, you will certainly give account!

Learn to render account even when you are not asked. And, if you're asked, don't get offended, render it anyhow. Because, the account you failed to settle here, you will definitely settle it at the gate of heaven above. But then, it will be too late to ask for time to correct yourself, because your fate would have been decided right then and there. Please, fear and always strive to do the right thing.

See to it that you're on the same page with everyone with whom you have to deal with in money matters. Somebody borrowed you money or you collected goods on credit from someone, and it has taken so long for you to pay him/her back, and he/she seems to have forgotten about it; please, don't assume that the owner of the money has forgiven you the money, go and reconcile, either to pay back or to explain your situation to him/her. The Bible says, "The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again..." (Ps 37:21).

MONEY PRINCIPLES OF HEAVEN BOUND BELIEVERS

1. Always know that the money that is not yours is poison to you. Don't take it, don't keep it, it will eventually kill.

2. Don't cheat people out of the money that is rightly theirs, be always fair and faithful.

3. Don't delay the wages of the people who worked for you unnecessarily, especially when you have the money presently in your possession to pay them.

4. Make it a mandatory policy for yourself never to do anything except you have two, three or more witnesses when taking decisions on people's money.

5. Understand that for every money that is committed into your hand, you must give account, no matter how insignificant the amount might seem. If you fail to give it in your lifetime, and death comes knocking unannounced, you will give it at the gate of eternity. Be always conscious of this.

"If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?" (Luk 16:11).

"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows" (1 Tim 6:10).

Prayer:
1. O God, deliver me from the power of the love of money, in the Name of Jesus.
