One will want to wonder how a whole helicopter would go missing because an helicopter is not a regular car where anyone can have the same model, neither is it a medical drone that can be mistakenly allocated to another health center. But the awkward disappearance of 3 helicopters in Nigeria commercial capital, Lagos has come with much eyebrows and rude shock.

The disappearance of 3 helicopters belonging to Lagos state government in Nigeria actually started as a joke on Monday 23rd August 2020 when reports emerged that 3 of the helicopters haven't been seen around. The case escalated and the state government actually confirmed the rumours in a statewide broadcast today, asking the people of the state for useful information on the 3 winged engines current location.

The social media has been awashed with reports that some governments official might have stolen it and sent it to panel beating shop for repaint into commercial transport colour for easy movement across Nigeria, some said a celebrity might have borrowed it to shoot music video in cape coast in Ghana. Some also said hospitals must have mistaken it for medical drones. The whereabout of the 3 helicopters is still unknown as at the time of filing this report.

Shouldn't Ghanaians be more worried about the billions of dollars going missing in their country due to massive govt corruption there?

This is a country of only 25 million people, with oil and gas, gold, and cocoa in huge commercial quanities.

There shouldn't be a single poor person in Ghana, or any poor neigbourhood there.

But what do we see? Outside their half city, Accra, there's nothing.

But hey, they pride themselves on being ''a peaceful nation'', so their politicians steal with reckless abandon while the people keep shut, and look for what to say about 'Nigeria', instead

Lagos state has a higher GDP than Ghana and lacks social amenities. At least Ghana has 24 hour electricity and many Nigerians parents are paying dollars to send their children to university there.

Lagos state finances has never been probed. The day a probe is carried out we will see if Ghana is a saint, compared to the way Lagos state finances have been run.

Ghana DOES NOT HAVE 24 HR ELECTRICITY, AND LACKS SOCIAL AMENITIES LIKE EVERY OTHER DEVELOPING COUNTRY.

You can tell lies to others who know no better.

Don't try that crap with me.

Nigerians sending a few kids to university there simply means Nigerians value education, and that the 200 universities in Nigeria are still insufficient for the country. It doesn't mean Ghana is ''better than Nigeria'' in any way.

SO WHAT? Nigeria is a very skewed country developmentally. The arid north is what brings the indices down. Without that huge swathe of northern semi-desert, Nigeria would surpasss Ghana in the HDI index.

A FAIRER measure would be GDP per capita because that tells you what the average Nigerian earns compared to the average Ghanaian, and Nigeria BEATS Ghana there, despite the fact we have 200 million people and Ghana just 25 million.

Same could be said for Ghana, that other regions bring down the HDI score and GDP per capita.

Our northern region is vaster and more arid than Ghana's. No comparison whatsoever.

Nigeria has the best human resources in the world and that has been proved by the success of Nigerians in diaspora but the worst leaders at local, state and federal level that have reduced the country to a failed state unable to provide the basic social amenities. And an army of asskissers that praise there oppressors.

Abeg shush jare. Was it not those same '''worst leaders at local, state, and federal level'' that provided mass free education and built thousands of schools, plus nearly 200 universities, across the nation after independence, moving Nigeria from a literacy rate of 5% in 1960 to 64% today?

Without that investment in mass public education by those ''terrible'' leaders, would any Nigerian be able to travel abroad today to ''excel''?

Could our illiterate village farm-stuck peasant grandparents travel abroad to ''excel'' during colonialism?

Nope. They had NO OPTION but to remain poor, illiterate and ignorant peasants.

Today, courtesy of our ''terrible, horrible leaders'', you can stand up today and travel to Germany, USA, Dubai, Brazil, UK, and EXCEL.

That did not happen by accident but by design, by our ''terrible, horrible leaders''.

Comprende?

Rossinky- I get banned when I quote you directly, not sure if it is a glitch or you found a way to ban people that quote you.

The 70's was the time when Nigeria was somewhat working. We had world class universities, numerous fleets in Nigerian Airways and corruption was fairly tame. Things started going downhill from the 80's when fantastical corruption crept in and the free for all looting began.

Every nation experiences ups and downs. Nigeria of today has LESS corruption than Nigeria of 10 years ago. FACT. That is why we are seeing infrastructural projects all over the country now, from roads to rail, to airports, to seaports and even dry ports!. Stop expecting perfection from ''our leaders''. Are you yourself anything near perfect?

Even those you consider perfect, like European/American leaders, are some of the most vile and corrupt, vicious, mentally sick people on the face of the earth.

You have leaders who wake up and decide to attack another country, kill millions of their people, and seize their resources worth trillions of dollars, by claiming falsely that they possessed weapons of mass destruction and were a danger and threat to the world.

What corruption in Nigeria even remotely approaches that?

Rossinky- you're a patriot, but live in a delusional world where Nigeria is making progress. Have you gone to our universities and seen the facilities and residences where students stay?

We have had the worse leaders in the world since the 80's and that is why Nigerians risk their lives through the Sahara Desert and Mediterrean Sea to escape the failed state.

Only a select few are benefitting from the status quo. The average Nigeria is experiencing abject poverty, I witnessed it during my 14 year stay in the country and when I visited two years ago.

Have YOU gone to ''our unversities''. All 200 of them? When did you go there to know the conditions they all are in?

You just wake up typing negative rubbish off the top of your head.

Strictly your opinion. I much prefer Nigerian leaders to leaders of Somalia, Afghanistan, Cambodia, Guinea, Mali, Haiti, Uganda, Chad, Syria, Yemen, or North Korea. Why not visit those places on business or pleasure and tell us how you get along? Why don't you put your money where your mouth is?

The people crossing the Sahara and ending up in slavery in Libya, Lebanon etc, is not every week we see them begging on You Tube for the Nigerian govt to send planes to bring them back home to the ''failed state''?

You can NEVER say how the ''average Nigerian'' is living by ''visiting'' Nigeria on holidays. Nigeria has 200 MILLION people. How many homes did you visit to know how they live? Stick with actual official data, and keep your negative, parochial summations to yourself..

As for that ''600 billion dollars stolen since independence'' stuff, that is actually a VERY SMALL AMOUNT for a country like Nigeria.

That money, supposedly pilfered over a 60 year period, is equivalent to 1/10th of the USA's ANNUAL budget of 7.6 trillion dollars.

Instead of crying over spilt milk, focus on the efforts being made today to DIVERSIFY the nation's economy so as to INCREASE our national income, since that oil and gas money is insufficient for a nation of 200 million.

Nigeria is actually retrogressing, we have the highest paid National Assembly members and have governors who gave themselves multi-billionaire naira life pensions after looting their states dry. We have police and army openly collecting bribes fro Nigerians and foreigners.

The country is going down rapidly, why do you think politicians move in 8-40 car convoys with armed security if we are not a failed state. An example under the Lagos state pension law, Tinubu gets 8 policemen and 2 DSS officials in addition to 6 cars every 3 years, in a country plagued by kidnapping and armed robbery. Is the best use scarce security resources to allocate 10 security officials to one man.

Stop typing rubbish. If those states are ''looted dry'' how come we have Nigerians on Nairaland daily showcasing their regional cities and displaying infrastructural progress in all states?

How come they are not showing mere bush since all the money has been looted in your dumb little head?

Very common in developing nations. Certainly not unique to Nigeria and it is tied to low salaries ..... being developing nations. As wages rise, such shenanigans are reduced, naturally.

If we are a failed state, why do we have Nigerians begging the govt to send them planes to return them home from Lebanon, Libya, and even the USA and UK? As at last week, the Nigerian govt had evacuated over 2000 Nigerians from the USA.

Why are all these people desperate to return to a ''failed state''?

I don't see people clamouring and desperate to return to North Korea or Yemen.

I don't give a toss if they travel in 100 vehicle convoys. How is that any of your business? Do you realise a great and popular Nigerian leader was once shot dead in his car while driving to work without a convoy? His name? General Murtala Ramat Muhammed. If leaders are security conscious, don't blame them.

One thing I have noticed off recent is that Nigeria politicians are more bold and desperate now in looting is like they do it as if there won't be any chance for them to loot again. Example Akpabio, Obasa and many more. But this missing helicopter shock me

Who created the insecurity? If not the failed leaders that turned the country to the poverty and corruption capital of the world.
