Why Is Mathew 17:21 Omitted In Some Version Of Bible? by Anaerobi(m): 6:14pm On Aug 31, 2020
The Bible is Christian Holy Book that every Christian have to live his/her life according to it teachings.
But I noticed that this particular verse of the Bible Mathew 17:21 which is:
But this kind does not go out, except by praying and fasting.
Is omitted in some version of the Bible. versions like Good News Bible, NIV, some King James version, Gideons Bible and others.
If you read the story in full Mathew 17:14-24 which was about a young boy who has seizures and was suffering greatly. Jesus disciples couldn't heal him but when Jesus came, a man approached him and knelt before him, narrating the boy predicament and Jesus command the boy should be brought to him and he held him.
His disciples tried to find out why they couldn't do that, despite performing other miracles.
But Jesus talked about their little Faith, he went further and quoted in that Verse 21 of Mathew 17.
But this kind does not go out, except by praying and fasting.
Why is that place omitted in some version of Bible?

It was added by some self-righteos traditionalists who believe in ritual fastings!

Jesus never taught his followers how to fast, but most religions in the world believe in ritual fasting so after many of these people embraced Christianity they added what we know today as Matthew 17: 21 when copying their own Bible (as people usually copy it by hand back then!

It was later that researchers discovered it wasn't part of Jesus' statement.

But you can decipher such falsehood without any problem, just concentrate on Jesus' teachings, try to figure out when he taught his followers how to fast, note his response to told those who came to challenge his followers about fasting {Matthew 9:14-17} then think of what he said in verse 20 before 21 and ask yourself these questions
© Jesus sent his followers out to go preaching, teaching and curing all manner of sicknesses {Matthew 10:3-8} he didn't ask them to fast before going, so Why saying what is in verse 17? Who was he referring to, his faithful followers or the crowd? Was he now blaming them for what he himself said it's not necessary? Did he fasted in their presence for them to know how he does so?

All these will help you to grasp that verse 21 was fabricated and not coherent with the rest of that story in any way! John 8:32 smiley

YES! They asked him in private why they couldn't oust the demon!

Of course some demons fear the name of Jesus so ordinarily hearing the mention of that name will scare them away, but some are tougher that's why strong FAITH is required to drive them away!

Remember when Jesus was traveling on the sea with his followers, the sea didn't just got agitated all by itself it's the work of powerful wicked spirits, they wanted to jeopardize Jesus' effort by killing the few confidants he was able to gather throughout his lifetime on earth. So when Jesus woke up he rebuked the sea! Mark 4:35-41

So strong faith NOT FASTING is required to drive away such stubborn demons! smiley

After the death of all the Apostles, Satan disrupted the Christian congregation and complicated the whole thing until true Christianity was lost.

There are many misinterpretations, subtractions and addition but God's holy spirit has helped true Christians today to produce a complete version that's reliable!

You only need to IDENTIFY them in order to know many sacred secrets that's hidden from Satan and his human agents! Daniel 12:10

Modern translations are often accused of having "deleted" or "removed" Matthew 17:21 from the New Testament. The assumption in this accusation, of course, is that this verse must be original and therefore it was willfully removed. Modern translators, however, point out that this verse is not present in the earliest manuscripts we possess. They contend, then, that they have not deleted anything. Rather, later scribes added these words, and they are not part of what Matthew actually wrote.

There are only four possible ways that this situation could have arisen:

Matthew 17:21 is original and one or more scribes mistakenly omitted it.
Matthew 17:21 is original and one or more scribes intentionally deleted it.
Matthew 17:21 is not original and one or more scribes mistakenly added it.
Matthew 17:21 is not original and one or more scribes intentionally added it.

"Since there is no good reason why the passage, if originally present in Matthew, should have been omitted in a wide variety of witnesses, and since copyists frequently inserted material derived from another Gospel, it appears that most manuscripts have been assimilated to the parallel in Mark.9.29. "And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting," (Mark 9:29, KJV).

The English is not deep, it's archaic. For some reasons some Christians like tradition. That's why many of them hold on to KJV and demonize other translations.

It depends on the greek manuscript used for the translation work, it seems.
Some Greek copies add verse 21: “But that kind of spirit comes out only with prayer and fasting.”
But as you can see, the message contained in verse 21 pretty much continues what was already said in verse 20
20 Jesus answered, “You were not able to make the demon go out, because your faith is too small. Believe me when I tell you, if your faith is only as big as a mustard seed you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. You will be able to do anything.” - Matthew 17 vs 20
And as you may already have guessed, Jesus Christ was not in any way speaking of the prayer and fasting rituals practiced by those in the religion of Christianity at all. undecided

Okay, agreed the verse was inserted for whatever reason.

Jehovah Witnesses are the only ones now with faith doing the work of Jehovah.
The preceding verse says,

And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Matthew 17:20

How many of you MaximumSide,, Janosky and the rest brethren in delusion are casting out any demons?

You will say gifts of the Holy Spirit have perished with the disciples ( you are no longer His disciples though) that is why you cannot cast out demons.

Is faith outdated also?

Does it mean your faith is not up to mustard seed's size?
Are there no more demons?
