Realpolitik (see also Political realism; from German: real “realistic”, “practical” or “actual”; and Politik “politics”, German pronunciation: [ʀeˈaːlpoliˌtiːk]) refers to politics or diplomacy based primarily on power and on practical and material factors and considerations, rather than ideological notions or moralistic or ethical premises. In this respect, it shares aspects of its philosophical approach with those of realism and pragmatism. The term realpolitik is sometimes used pejoratively to imply politics that are coercive, amoral, or Machiavellian. Realpolitik is a theory of politics that focuses on considerations of power, not ideals, morals, or principles. Balancing power to keep the European pentarchy was the means for keeping the peace, and careful Realpolitik practitioners tried to avoid arms races.

in essence the philosophy focuses on the belief that the state should do whatever it takes to ensure it's own survival even at the determent of other states.

this idea led germany into nazi hands, and caused WWII
but the lack of this idea has left Nigeria in total chaos, importing chickens and gari for national holidays when our own farmers are having a hard time selling them, and blowing countless billions on peace keeping without reaping any rewards (though i respect the selflessness personally)

so where do you stand?
should nigeria take a more realpoltick approach to dealing with Africa and the world?

i look at this ivory coast situation and shake my head.
France, under this doctrine wants nigeria destroyed because it is a threat to french hegemony in west africa
every single chance to destroy nigeria the french have been right there.
supporting biafra, and using puppet states (Cameroon, CIV, and Gabon) to negate everything we say in the AU.

CIV is the headquarters of french puppeteering in africa.
Gbagbo is anti-french
the other guy, pro-french
also, when CIV was united and peaceful it was funding rebels, negating our peace keeping missions, and trying to discredit ecowas while contributing to it minimally.

now that CIV is out of the picture, and an anti-french man is the leader, it's sad to see GEJ trying to throw him out and reinstall a french puppet.

from a realpoltick stance i think GEJ should go ahead and invade CIV with Ecowas. Get funding from France and the US. Use the money to buy Nigerian products for funding the battle and bribing our allies in CIV to give our construction companies like Dangote full rights to the 'reconstruction'

then while invading blow up as many buildings as possible.
if the CIV can't pay our companies once stability is reached, we give then massive loans from our excess crude account.

since they will remain in a state of debt to us, we won't have to worry about them trying sabotage us constantly in the name of Francafrique

also flood the country with our most useless citizens (criminals in jail, unemployable youths) so they're someone elses' burden and not ours.

This all sounds messed up but its how european states think and play politics and key to their success. Sadly i dont think africans will ever catch on, we're too nice.
