For the children of God, if you love yourself, pray for the kingdom of God to come.

The kingdom of men has failed...no one is coming to make things better.

The earlier we leave here the better.

Come quickly Lord.

How can the price drop? In a situation where the government no longer be the one to fix price...no price control, every marketer at the liberty to fix price for the commodity...

Officialgarri:
Atiku better sit down patiently with the person that explained the economics behind deregulation instead of rushing to social media.
These people called Politicians are just as dumb as anyone.

Fine, when Buhari first deregulated in 2016, Oil price dropped "due to competition" by 1 naira, but what happened after, it flew right up to #145.
This is because Oil is always in high demand and the higher the demand the higher the price.

Law of Officialgarri states that "Any product with increasing demand and without corporate regulations will have it's market price competing mostly at increasing prices" e.g Cryptocurrencies
Hence, the introduction of subsidy. If not for regulation and subsidies, gas was initially supposed to be selling at about #179 but the Government pays about #46.

So someone tell me something interesting about deregulation
I pity your generation.

Just wait and see how some people here will turn this to a PDP vs APC, Atikulated VS Febuhari fight, instead of making an intelligent debate on the issue raised. I just came here to watch the drama unfold grin

They don't want full deregulation because this government is hiding within the gambits of "deregulation " to loot resources and exploit Nigerians.

Atiku just exposed himself as an opportunist and not a businessman. Somebody ask him if the exchange rate is still the same. The people for whom the price has dropped have stable exhange rates or strong currencies. Foolish man!!!

Deregulation? But not to be carried out by you at the head.

The younger generations in Nigeria must be given the chance to adjust the country.

Theoretically, he's right but he also failed to put into consideration the following:

1. We import the refined product in dollars and the importers need to source the dollars at the prevailing exchange rates
2. The final cost of the product is based on the product's landing cost (taxes + import duties + cost to transport product etc)
3. Low crude oil price translates to low dollars inflow into the country which means high exchange rate due to high demand

By the time all of these are taken into consideration, the price to the end-users would shoot up. This scenario would be different if our refineries are working but as we all know, the refineries are being sabotaged because of the people who are benefiting from the importation of refined products.

No. If we truly deregulate, prices should be unpredictable, except if government herself becomes a major player in the market and also if we can refine the fuel we use.

They all use fuel price and insecurity as political points till they become president... When they assume office, the narrative changes.

Abeg let Buhari do his own and leave and let's move forward. If it's revolution or election, we'll know by then.

That's why those of us who want to have a decent conversation about subsidy can't do so without being accused of political intentions
