Nairaland being a global forum not only for Nigerinas in the diaspora but for any cyber loving fanatic around the world,Nigeria having the advantage of being one of the most populous nations in the world have its citizens scattered near and far throughout the globe!the essence of this thread is to learn from NL users in the different locations you are anywhere in the world cheesy some of us havnt seen the inside of a plane before not to talk about a trip to the bahamas or riveria wink so anywhere you are near and far lets share your experience, what makes the place tick?wheres the place you would love to visit?what do you like most about where you at?what are the many highs/lows cause it cant all be perfect yeah!then finally what tribe of Nigerians do you think you can find anywhere around the world?forget England cause I know a street in London where when you say "ekaro" some everyone answers "bawoni" grin grin grin?no doubt there are more yorubas in England than any other tribe!I stand corrected though!then there's this belief about the igbo's that if you dont find them anywhere around the world then there's something awfully wrong with that place then its widely believed that the hausa man doesnt enjoy much travel away from home(except ofcourse for the hajj trips to saudi-arabia) ,okay! enough of my opinions already lets hear what y'all have to say cheesy

I have been in Italy for almost 8 years. I have been to Turin, Bologna, Milan (train station), Florence, Ferrara and of course Mantua (where I live).

All I can say for now is: Italy is the most boring place a pretty girl like me can live. That's why I am in search of my Prince who shall free me from the prison. Ooooh Charming, I can't wait any longer.

I am tired now. i'll post what you guys want to read tomorrow!

I notice here Nairaland members always talk about being travel to England, Finland, Norway, Canada or across the border of Lagos/Abuja.

I never see anyone from Nairaland to visit the USA having beautiful historical sightseeing tour where the slavery took place.
[li]Jamestown, Virginia is where Queen the virgin Elizabeth send Captain John Smith to discover new world.[/li]
[li]Charleston, South Carolina is where master slavery planation with large cotton field back 400 years ago[/li]
[li]Appomattox, Virginia is where American civil war with General Robert Lee surrendered---south lost the war.[/li]
[li]Fredericksburg, Virginia is where the battle of civil war took place.[/li]
[li]New Orleans, Louisana is enriched Creole slavery history tour took place.[/li]
[li]sign up big boat (vacation cruise) at your favorite travel agency parlor going to Carribean (tropical islands: Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Bahamas---Major English speaking, French, few Africa languages), Central Americas (Panama, Dominic Republic, Haiti---all French/Spanish speaking, few English speaking), Mexico, South Americas (Brazil---all Spanish speaking few English speaking)[/li]
[li] many more sightseeing tour about America Civil War, Revolution War (Boston, Massussetts), family amusement park, water amusement park, lot of beaches (both West Coast--Pacific Ocean and East Coast--Atlantic Ocean), lot of casino gambling parlors (Las Vegas, Nevada and Atlantic City, New Jersey), mountain/cave/grand canyon (Colorado) tour. [/li]
I never see anyone from Nigeria as follow below:

Or go settle living in a small rural town away from major hectic traffic-congested cities usually 100 miles south, cheaper house purchase in the south such as Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Mississippi or Virginia---FORGET ABOUT THE LARGEST POPULATION of Nigeria residents there. You can commute to 3 hours driving to major cities such as Washington DC or Baltimore Maryland from rural town Virginia.

Settle quiet low crime rates, low tax rates, better economic, better rural schools, few computer lags or few transportation lags (outdated computer systems or no public transportation such as subway, train, city buses, taxis), you would afford buying cheaper house less than $200,000 for 4 bedroom/2 bathroom/living-dining room/kitchen set.
Re: "been-to's" On Nairaland! by DisGuy: 10:45pm On Jun 20, 2007
uspry1, most nigerians don't travel as tourist, there must be a reason to jobs, education, family and business. you notice people that were refused visas to a country still trying to get into that same country when there are so many countries they can travel to.

"I no come drink tea with queen abeg!"-naija tourist
Re: "been-to's" On Nairaland! by uspry1(f): 10:56pm On Jun 20, 2007
@Dis Guy
Tell me how i see US census on foreign-born come to the US dated 2000, Nigeria is second highest population to the US over 100,000 legal alien/passport.

I never understand why US embassy in those country keep declined the same country they want to travel. Nothing wrong with apply US tourist visa to visit other country up to 3 months stay before return to their homeland.

I have seen too many frustrated stories about applying passport/visa. 2 days ago at night I watched on cable political tv talking about passport processing backlog in which US senators and house of representatives being investigated to find out why backlog in US passport processing that over 5 millions US-born people (travelers without passport after the law went effective last Jan. 2007 and again this March 2007---require passport for Mexico/Canada to cross US border) grew angered waiting for delay receiving express passport 3 weeks late where they are still stranded outside of the US (Mexico/Canada).  It suppose to be 1 week express passport shipping, why 3 weeks late? ??
Re: "been-to's" On Nairaland! by DisGuy: 11:58pm On Jun 20, 2007
Extras security checks might be responsible for the delay and the amount of applicants vs amount of staffs available to deal with the applications
Re: "been-to's" On Nairaland! by uspry1(f): 12:14am On Jun 21, 2007
From US cable political tv states that there were only 800 staff dealing with over 3 millions US passport applications per month being processing. Can you imagine that?

So they will ask senators/house of the representatives for increasing 2,500 more hiring staff using retired employees start passport processing after this July 2007 where all passport prices increase.

Poor US-born travelers still stuck stranding outside of US not allowing to enter the US without passport even though they have temporary paperwork, birth certificate, and government-photo ID cards with them, waiting for their express passport shipping delivery 3 weeks late!!!!

I had two visitors on separated month at my church in Alexandria, Virginia recently this year. They were just visitors.

-- Ugandan black sign language interpreters to see REAL LIVE DEAF CHOIR singing at my church. I was one of deaf choir member. Our church certified white female interpreter invited them coming to my church. Both of them are friends.

-- Nigerian single female. She did not mention telling us which part of city/state she is from during worship service on the visitor stand-up.

Tell me about it and I believe that they were tourist visa for a short term.

With recent wahala in your country of abode, do you think its easy staying illegal? wink
Re: "been-to's" On Nairaland! by DisGuy: 2:06am On Jun 21, 2007
Mr akolawale, are you telling me Nigerians actually to these places?

# Jamestown, Virginia is where Queen the virgin Elizabeth send Captain John Smith to discover new world.
# Charleston, South Carolina is where master slavery plantation with large cotton field back 400 years ago
# Appomattox, Virginia is where American civil war with General Robert Lee surrendered---south lost the war.
# Fredericksburg, Virginia is where the battle of civil war took place.
# New Orleans, Louisana is enriched Creole slavery history tour took place.
# sign up big boat (vacation cruise) at your favorite travel agency parlor going to Carribean (tropical islands: Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Bahamas---Major English speaking, French, few Africa languages), Central Americas (Panama, Dominic Republic, Haiti---all French/Spanish speaking, few English speaking), Mexico, South Americas (Brazil---all Spanish speaking few English speaking)

I'm not saying people don't return home but Nigerians mainly travel to visit family, relax, shop, work and school in other countries. Have you seen any Nigerians going to mount everest some other adventure trip or travel specifically to follow the slave routes?

why would anyone want to stay illegal? now company managers will soon be imprisoned or fined more for employing illegal workers.

apart from advising people to go to college instead of university please advise them to concentrate on their education and tell them to consult their 'sponsor' if they are having problems wink
