Nonsense. Nigeria cannot be giving out welfare. Tell these people to take menial jobs, or become small time traders and build up from there. |

you all see how lazy this niger/delta people are,.,. while other nigerias from igbo to yoruba to hausa are working to make their lives and the country a better place, niger/deltans want free money just because they produce oil. now the question is, does ondo, lagos, awka ibom, cross river not produce oil,.,.,.,., are they protesting? can this people try this nonsense in OBJ or buhari's term? why id it only in jonathan's term they are flexing there muscles ? people vote wisely |

Re: Ex-niger Delta Militants Invade Abuja To Protest Unpaid Allowances by ShangoThor(m): 8:40pm On Feb 23, 2011 |
Being fair (even though I don’t accept the State should act as a Welfare State) it depends on what the terms and conditions of Amnesty were. From their placards I can see that they are demanding: 1. The payment of their Housing Allowance as agreed by the ‘Amnesty Committee’ in 2010. 2. The funding of their Transformation Training. If the FG promised these things, then they should stick to the agreement. |

Re: Ex-niger Delta Militants Invade Abuja To Protest Unpaid Allowances by Beaf: 2:40am On Feb 24, 2011 |
People keep calling the ex-millitants lazy people. It is very ironic, because every single state and LG in Nigeria does exactly what these folk are doing; your state, my state, all states queue in Abuja, begging bowls at the ready for money they never worked for. I say, look in the mirror. |

^ Dude, my small toe packs more IQ than your whole arid, desert clan. Lol! @topic The truth is bitter. As they say, remove the log in your eye before complaining of the speck in your neighbours eye. Those ex-millitants are a graphic picture of the Nigerian nation, where each state does fvckall, yet collects welfare money from Abuja, instead of the other way round. If all our states and LG's are beggars, why point fingers at ex-millitants who have an agreement with the FG thats as valid as the one the FG has with the states. Isn't it an irony and a pitiable delusion? Look in the mirror and see yourselves in our fvcked country. |

Lagos State @ 85%+ IGR = Beggar? Lagos State which contributes most of Nigeria's VAT money, port income = Beggar? Na wa o. What you say factually isn't even true. |

I have to side with Beaf on this one. These boys risked their lives fighting the govt. for resource control. Since, they weren't given the full resource control, then atleast let them enjoy their monthly allowance. Others, like politicians, and unproductive states/LG are just getting a free ride for doing absolutely nothing. To carry gun and face nigerian soldiers no be for lazy man o! I love these Ijaw boys men. |
Re: Ex-niger Delta Militants Invade Abuja To Protest Unpaid Allowances by Beaf: 3:17am On Feb 24, 2011 |
eku_bear: 85% IGR means, you have a shortfall and the beggar analogy applies remorselessly. We are all beggars, and it really looks ridiculous when beggars laugh at other beggars. |

Beaf:beaf, ijaws or niger/delta people are not the only oil producing area in nigeria, we have cross-river, ondo, lagos, akwa-ibom, imo anambra, edo now are igbos, yoruba, bini, ibibio people begging for money like you people,.,.,.,please answer honestly how many igbo or yoruba militants have you seen ddoing this because they produce oil are itsekiri not in niger/delta, why they not begging for money like ijaws,.,.and yet it is not laziness smh |
Re: Ex-niger Delta Militants Invade Abuja To Protest Unpaid Allowances by Obiagu1(m): 3:19am On Feb 24, 2011 |
alex101: What the fu<k are you talking about? Which country gives allowance to people because they are in oil producing regions? What's wrong with Nigerians? Maybe Canadian government should start giving allowance to natives of Fort McMurray in Alberta, nonsense. |
Re: Ex-niger Delta Militants Invade Abuja To Protest Unpaid Allowances by ekubear1: 3:20am On Feb 24, 2011 |
Beaf: Err, not when Lagos State is getting gypped out of port revenue and VAT money. The amount it is losing to the FG very likely makes up for the tiny amounts it gets back. If someone offers Lagos State the choice of exchanging VAT revenues earned within the state + full control of its port revenues in exchange for losing all FG allocations, I suspect that the state takes that offer every time. |
