Wherever a saint of Yahushua the Messiah is, he or she will show others how things are done right. For example: if there is lack of honesty, such saint will be a beacon of honesty in such an environment. Again, if there is lack of purity, diligence or sincerity, such saint will be pillar of purity, diligence or sincerity in such an environment. This is what it means to be "the Light."

There are those who belong to the darkness and will refuse to change from their hatred, wickedness, dishonesty, impurity, etc. Among such people you find the: Igbos, Fulanis, Hausas, Yorubas, Jews, Japanese, English, Egyptians, Arabians, Indians, Spanish, Mexicans, Germans, Chinese, Italians, etc. They will see the light, the saint, in that environment as their enemy and will, therefore, fight against such saint. In this case, they will always fail woefully. Such spiritual battle has been going on since time immemorial and will continue unabated till the Messiah returns. Light will always triumph over darkness. Physical weapons such as knives, guns, wood or stones are not necessary.

Now you know, at least partially, the Scriptural context of light and darkness in terms of human activities.

Good, uprightness, righteousness, does not know race, colour, tribe, or ethnicity.

It may also include severing ties with family members and friends who might pose a threat to the service to our God, Jehovah. (Proverbs 13:20, Matthew 10:37, 1Corinthians 15:33)
Just like Peter and the disciples did and were rewarded(Mark 10:28-30)
So as you can see, it is that serious.

They are the ones who will bring to nought all earthly governments and extend God's Kingdom to the earth. (Revelation 19:11-15)
It is only when that occurs, that obedient humans can benefit from God's righteous rulership. It is only then when true peace and security will come to be on the earth—death, pain, old age, sickness, hunger, injustice will all be no more. (Psalm 72:7,16, Isaiah 33:24, Revelation 21:1-4)
No human government today can ever achieve any of these, so that's why Jehovah's Witnesses stick to God's original plan and remain neutral in worldly affairs.
