The Chancellor of Gregory University Uturu, Professor Gregory Ibe, former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, Minister of Education, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba are set to speak at the 75th anniversary year of the United Nations and the Inauguration of the Centre for Transformative Advancement of Development in Africa, (CTADA).

The event which has been scheduled to hold on 24th September, 2020, 4: 00pm - 7:30pm via Zoom will feature other prominent speakers from different countries.

IGBERE TV recalls that the Secretary-General of the United Nations had said that in light of the number of serious challenges currently facing the world and the fact that many people are turning their backs on the idea of international cooperation (multilateralism) there is not a lot to celebrate in the 75th anniversary year of the UN.

He instead called for measures that would increase appreciation for the need for, and value of, international cooperation
and international institutions.

In that regard the UN Secretary General António Guterres, specifically asked that UN supporters not just engage the UN bubble of fellow UN followers but rather find ways to particularly engage the skeptics and the
unaware in thinking about the Future We Want and the role of multilateral institutions in helping to make that better future a reality. In consideration, all sectors of society were called upon by the Secretary General of
United Nations, António Guterres, in September 2019, to commit to mobilizing for a decade of action.

Global action is needed to secure greater leadership, more resources, and smarter solutions for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition, there is need for local action to embed the
needed transitions in policies, budgets, institutional infrastructure, and regulatory frameworks, at all levels of authority in governments, and civil society.

Special attention must be given to engagement of youth, the media, the private sector, unions, academia, and all other stakeholders, to generate an unstoppable movement as we push forward.

In response to the call to commit to the decade of action, the Gregory University Uturu Abia State, the Bar JUNI and Irene Menakaya Foundation International and the Center for SDG Global Education USA, established the Centre for Transformative Advancement of Development in Africa, (CTADA) to join the global community in generating unstoppable movement for required transformation most importantly for Africa.

To reverberate the call by the Secretary General and the drive to contribute to advancement of development of African in the new Normal and in commemoration of United Nations @75 the call for the launching and inauguration of Centre for Transformative Advancement of Development in Africa as window to the future we want for communities of Africa especially in the new normal.

Therefore we are pleased to raise community awareness about the theme-“The future we want, Reaffirming our Collective Commitment to the Advancement of Development for Africa” as the transformation begins to unfold in Africa, and all humanity.

The purpose is to mobilize the community around the UN75 focused on getting collective action around the world to strengthen the consensus about the Future building International Institutions for success. The event will highlight favorably the; UN75, and the vision of the Future of Africa. Launching of Centre for Transformative Advancement of Development in Africa, (CTADA) resounding Pledge to the Advancement of
Development for Africa.

The agenda for CTADA embraces the reality that globalization will remained a permanent feature of the 21st century, and in recognition of the impact of global catastrophes like the pandemic that seem to bestow global
engagement, it is overbearing that advancement of transformative development in Africa maintains continuity in professional improvement and competence, to effectively generate solutions for multidimensional, challenges.

The Centre (CTADA) is a professional development epicenter offering executive education programs for the purpose of enabling the vision. CTADA will focus on emerging issues in response to the global impact on African aimed at providing support to improve advancement through bridging the gap between the diaspora
and Africa as a main tributary in the flow of knowledge.
