The advantages ......you'll speak the same language and live within same geographical zone.
The only issue here is if your mother does not understand and can't speak english.

They are mundane things anyway.

It's just the joy of speaking same mother tongue and practicing same culture (food, dressing). That's all.
BUT ALL THOSE DON'T GUARANTEE A HAPPY MARRIAGE.

Respect your mother's position. All you need to do is to be careful in choosing a woman that fits you in your cultural circle. The notion of meeting one's missing rib in a particular girl is a religious hocus pocus. Marrying from your ethnic group offers you cultural homogeneity and stability.

It's often recommended that one follows one's heart and ignores tribal differences when choosing a spouse.
However, it's good to have a common language/culture at home especially if one lives far away from home.

Sometimes you just wanna gossip with your spouse about the stranger next to you at the park or shopping mall without them knowing what you're talking about. cheesy

because Igbo women have high taste. They will cheat on u or even divorce you when u face little challenges. Igbo ladies don't like to suffer. Listen to your mom, she is speaking from experience.

There are NO advantages and there are No Disadvantages, what is important is your happiness cos thats what count ...I bet you when the going gets too tough in that same tribe marriage I bet you those 'so called advantages' would hold water cos you will be sad to the point of depression and wishing you never married at all.

My advice go to your mum with a baby face and let her know that your happiness is involve here but make sure the woman in question really love you genuinely so that in the future your mum will not play the "I told you so card".

This is hearsay and hasty generalization.

But it is also hearsay that a Yoruba woman
will cheat on him whether or not he has money because it is just their custom to have an "alé".

The character of a person is more important and key than the tribe. My brother married Yoruba and my sister married Hausa (We call him Hausa though he is Nupe) and we don't have issues with them.

It is parents who are not liberal that try to force their opinions and mindsets on their children. They need to look past the tribe and get to know the person first before rejecting someone that might be best for the children

Apart from speaking the same language there no other advantage.
For someone like me that can't speak my local dialect fluently, marrying someone from my tribe will just be useless.

Did u just type that Igbo ladies will cheat on him?

So there's a tribe in Nigeria that doesn't cheat? All of them both male and female migrated from heaven?...

And all the tribe in Nigeria has endurance absorber when there are challenges except the Igbos according to u right? SMH
