For me it would definitely have to be doctor. That's because: 1. I would love to work with people, and to be a specialist consultant or GP. Whereby, as well has helping people medically I can also give advise which could help them in other ways. So being a medical lab scientist is something I cannot see myself doing as a profession. Which is why after my degree in biomedical science I am transferring to medicine, which has always been my goal. 2. I like to have choice, so when you have a degree in medicine, you have the choice to become a surgeon, GP, consultant etc. As you receive general training, whereas being a nurse or pharmacist does not give you that type of variety. |

Nurses also av choices like being theater, pedeatrics etc Pharmacists also go into pharmacology and clinical pharmacy or toxicology, pharmaceutics, pharm. chemistry, pharm. microbiology etc. What's biomedical science all about? Is it related to biotechnology or biomedical engineering? |

stevetboy9: Yeah fair enough, but its not the nurses that are actually doing the operation. And I never said nurses and pharmacists cannot go into something else, the range is just not as wide as if you study medicine. Plus, they only have training in that particular area, whereas doctors have a more general knowledge due to the training the receive. Biomedical science covers a wide range of topics, such as biochemistry, human physiology and human genetics. And afterwards you can go into biotechnology and engineering. Or decide to work in hospital labs. |
