[size=15pt]April polls: Lynch anybody who attempts to rig, Buhari tells Nigerians[/size] From AIDOGHIE PAULINUS, who was in Kaduna Thursday, March 03, 2011 General Mohammadu Buhari (retd), former Head of State and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) has told Nigerians to “lynch” anybody who attempts to rig the April polls. “You should never leave polling centres until votes are counted and the winner declared and you should lynch anybody that tries to tinker with the votes,” Buhari told a large crowd of supporters. Buhari, a third-timer, who spoke at the North-West flag off of then CPC campaign in Kaduna, said he was on a rescue mission “I submit that in the affairs of man, it is only God that can determine history and ordain destiny. In my own case, it is destiny that threw me up to serve as the Head of State of this great country at that particular moment of our national history. “I would say with all humility that I dutifully accepted all the challenges and responsibilities of Head of State and Government. Whatever role I played, whether as leader or member of government, all my decisions and actions were always guided by a clear conscience, “My conscience constantly guided me to treat everyone and every group in the country with fairness and equity. That is why I can stand before Nigerians here today and hold my head high, knowing that I am ever ready to face any scrutiny or answer any question regarding my past performance as a public figure. I am always ready to give account of my past records to the Nigerian people.” Buhari further said it was his firm belief that the flag-off was not about the past, rather, an engagement that reflects on the future of Nigeria. “We are today facing an uncertain future in an uncertain world. It is vital Nigerians make the right choice about who would look after them in the next four years. “, I consider myself to be on a rescue mission. Never before have we seen such bad leadership in our national life. The country’s life is literally falling apart on all fronts-on security, in education, on the economy, in healthcare system and youth employment. Many critical observers have begun to list Nigeria among the failed states of the 21st century,” Buhari said. Commenting on the role played by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the nation’s affairs in the past 12 years, Buhari said: “We are internationally recognized for corruption, inefficiency, business uncertainty and infrastructural decay. “For 12 years, the PDP government has failed to tackle all these problems in spite of the resources at their disposal. We can and we must reverse these trends.” He said the first step to achieveing that was for Nigerians to vote PDP out. “They are finished. They have passed their sell-by date,” he declared. Speaking further, Buhari said: “Why should our economy be left to operate on individual power generating sets? If their aspiration to govern Nigeria for the next 60-200 years is pure, why are they unable to guarantee something as fundamental and basic as security of life and property? “Where was the PDP led government when what started as occasional incidents of kidnapping degenerated to the embarrassing dimension of an incorporated evil business? Does it matter to this administration that insecurity has compelled many potential foreign investors to drop Nigeria from their list? “Should we continue to vote the same people who have presided over the decline in quality of life in Nigeria for the last 12 years?’ “Shamefully, these people are openly canvassing a desire to rule Nigeria for 60 or 200 years. Nigerians must reject these political zoo keepers and stop them in their tracks. And stop them now. How exactly is a regular civilian going to know if it is rigged by just staying a the voting center? In other words he is telling his supporters to lynch the administrators if the outcome is not in his favor. I have no problem with the lynching of the riggers if it was rigging was without a doubt that apparent, apart from the snatching of ballots, but the way this guy is so quick to throw death out there is crazy.Kind of reminds me of Dan Fodio. |

Even here in the States if a group of fuxckers think they gone come to a voting center and "Rig" the elections by stuffing ballot boxes, if they get "lynched" I doubt too many folks will cry for them. Lynch them I say, thats the only way yall getting any kind of change! |

Kobojunkie: We sure won't allow them to continue to destroy the future of our nation unabated. Yes they will be lynched if they attempt to rig. Anyone who's not willing to get lynched should simply play by the rules. If a Jonathan PDP led government can arrest a cleric in Sokoto, for defacing posters (which are actually defacing the environment in the first place) as claimed by or government, and then moved the poor man all the way to Abuja using tax payers money, why won't people be prepared to lynch any eediot who wants us to continue to live under the suppressive PDP led government. againstGEJ: All those who died were no where near the venue of the rally. So what exactly is your point? At least the CPC did not shut the doors on crowd at the rally venue in order to prevent them from deserting as is always the case in PDP rallies. Beaf: You are even too lazy to read. This statement just confirmed why Buhari never saw anything wrong in Abacha killing almost everyone who was opposed to his government as long as Buhari is left alone to serve the Northern interest through the PTF. It also explains why Buhari who is reverred as comanding a fanatic followership in the north cannot use his influence to call almajiris to order, Boko Haram, Sharia warlords and Hausa/Fulani nomads in Jos to stop the indiscriminate killings in the north. Yet, he claims to love Nigeria. Must they all be Presidents before they can contribute to national development in whatever form? I have not seen Buhari in the vanguard of conflict resolution in any of the crises that have engulfed the north in the past 10years. Now, the only thing he can say is that people should start lynching others and to think that he must be talking to almajiris who only hear go and not come, we may be heading for anarchy at the polls. I read the script of the speech he made in Kaduna and there was no mention of lynch in the speach. One even wonders why it was only Vanguard news that brought the whole "lynch" word up. Below is what he said about voting: “a kasa” ("Cast" your votes) “a tsare” ("Protect" your votes/ballot boxes) “a raka” ("Escort" the ballot boxes) “a jira” ("Wait" to witness the counting of the votes) “idan zaa taba ku hana”. (If it is tempered with, don't allow). Hence where is the word lynch here. However, I still stand by my earlier statement, if lynching will make PDP play by the rules and forestall rigging, I'm in full support. It's very simple, if you don't want to get lynched, you dare not attempt to rig. |
