Ugly scenes unfolded outside of a courthouse in Senekal, South Africa on Tuesday, after a group of protesting farmers attempted to attack two suspected murderers in their holding cells. Tensions boiled over big time and SAPS (South African Police Service) confirmed that there were shots fired during their attempts to get the crowds back under control.

A police vehicle was pushed over and set on fire, as the protests turned violent quickly. SAPS have issued a statement on the matter, revealing that a heavy police presence will remain in the Senekal area for the time being:

"Unfortunately, after the court adjournment, an unruly group of farmers stormed the court building in Senekal, demanding that the suspects be handed over to them. They damaged the court property while forcing their way to the court cells. A police van parked outside the court building was also overturned and burned. Police got the situation under control before other reinforcements came. The situation was brought under control. Two shots were fired from this group but no one was injured. More deployments will stay here to make sure that order prevails.”

Amid this chaos, it’s important to remember why there was so much attention on Senekal on Tuesday. Young Brendin Horner, aged just 21, was brutally killed during a farm murder last week. He was beaten, tortured, and tied to a post. The horrendous crime led to the arrest of two males, who made a brief appearance in court today.

SAPS were the ones that fired the shots not the farmers.........and the police vehicle was over turned because it stormed into a crowed nearly hitting Women and Children, it also wasn't set alight, it caught fire due to a battery short and fuel leakage because it was on its side.

I don't condone the storming of the court by the Farmers however the police threw stun grenades at bystanders who were literally doing nothing and stormed through protesters nearly hitting women and children with their vehicles......this all happened before the storming of the court, police then also used live ammunition against the farmers.

SAPS has failed not just the Boere but all South Africans......and when you are failed by the very people sworn to protect you then you have no choice to defend yourself

I didn't see one protester carrying a rifle, but yes most probably had hand guns for self defence since thousands of farmers have been murdered since 94, however there is 0 evidence of any protester brandishing any weapon,
