Thanks Op and all who have contributed immensely. For a PhD program, which country can one possibly get a scholarship? |

roughdiamond: Most countries have total funding for PHD students, you just need to do small research, you can check AUSTRIA 1 Like |

Judzygal: EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING THAT HAS HEALTH ATTACHED TO IT SELLS BIG TIME FOR UK, IN REGARDS TO EMPLOYABILITY. i hope i have summarised the answer to your question |
Re: Determined Immigrant WE-MOVE by Judzygal(f): 9:19pm On Oct 23, 2020 |
Informanta: Thank you for your response. I appreciate My fear and reason for asking is that someone told me that public health job isn't easy to get in UK. |
Re: Determined Immigrant WE-MOVE by Informanta: 10:34pm On Oct 23, 2020 |
Judzygal: It depends on your packaging and understanding of what and how you can sell yourself.... Actually no field is indispensable.... Public health can be related to the home care pilot programme ran by Canada, where immigrants take care of old, there are facilities in the UK also meant for aged persons and public health also falls into line with that.... Health, i.t and Engineering courses are the most sought after 2 Likes |

I just thought I leave some information I read today on Quora here. It's important that Nigerians stay informed of what's happening overseas. Someone who just got approved for Canadian Permanent residency posted a question on Quora, an information sharing site. A Canadian woman responded to the question. Please kindly take note of some of the very important points she mentioned. For instance, she mentioned that Canada lost over 1 million jobs in March of this year alone. She also mentioned the huge amount of money you have to have with you when you come which is C$14,000. She also mentioned that a lot of newly arrived immigrants run out of money before they are able to find a job. So as you move, be sure to prepare yourself financially because migrating ain't cheap and especially now with the Covid-19 wahala. She mentioned the high cost of airline ticket to Canada right now and that their economy might recover in 2021 or 2022. Anyways, I am not here to discourage anyone. I just wanted to inform you of the situation on ground in Canada so that if you do decide to choose Canada as your potential destination, you will be adequately prepared.

dasparrow: Our resident Central American who fled Nigeria to that region has come again. Surprisingly, this lady did not mention the Indians, Lebanese and Chinese who are "making billions" while Nigerians prefer to leave (why did she leave then? She no like money ni?). justwise:You might not understand him but Nigeria is so bad now. It used to be bad before but at least people could eat now it's bad and people can't even eat. It's really terrible. |
Re: Determined Immigrant WE-MOVE by Gerrard59(m): 9:38am On Oct 24, 2020 |
justwise: I understand the point of cautioning people on what they are likely to face esp regarding finances, something I mentioned in my first post on this thread. Money is needed for anyone who intends to relocate through whatever means; study, work or even CBI. However, unlike Dasparrow, I have not been inconsistent in my approach by talking from both sides of the mouth. She has been consistent in telling Nigerian youths to remain, meanwhile she fled the same place she wants people to stay. Then, boom! She mentions Chinese, Lebanese and Indians who make billions. Question: If that is the basis to remain in Nigeria, then, why did she leave? Does she not like money? I stand by my comment: "Anyone who discourages you from relocating when s/he has not relocated to Nigeria is hypocritically wicked and does not wish you well (and if you check those who relocated, they are already citizens of developed countries). Flee from such people". People should practice what they preach and stop being hypocritical. 23 Likes |

tensazangetsu20: Actually, that is not what he mentioned me for. I will not encourage anyone to leave Nigeria to another place illegally or without enough funds no matter how Nigeria is horrible. However, I will not leave Nigeria yet discourage someone in Nigeria from doing same. That is what Dasparrow is doing: fled to a country in Central America after a brutish stay in Nigeria yet says people should not leave the same place she fled from. H for Hypocrisy! 10 Likes 1 Share |

Gerrard59: I have noticed for many years here that people's definition of ''discouragement'' is mostly when they are told to do things properly. Can i proudly join the league of those you will call wicked and hypocrites because i will never ever encourage any Nigerian to travel out without proper planning ...meaning holding the appropriate visa. That screenshot Dasparrow uploaded from the Canadian women is just telling you facts, that is not discouragement. I will never encourage my worst enemy to travel out of Nigeria now to any western country until they got hold of the pandemic or vaccine is developed. The economy is in free fall, people with papers/citizens are struggling to get a job let a lone a foreigner. I can't understand why somebody with £/$ 20-30K will want to travel abroad to study and when you get here you end up doing online studies and you hardly go out. That is just madness. 4 Likes |
Re: Determined Immigrant WE-MOVE by justwise(m): 4:05pm On Oct 24, 2020 |
Informanta: Bro this is the wrong time to travel abroad with the hope of living and working and hopefully become a citizen. Honestly if you have ££££/$$$ resting in your account in Nigeria right now then hold that money jealously and watch how the whole pandemic turns out. Only if you are coming with job in hand that you will walk into the moment you arrival else whatever you are going through now in Nigeria will never be compared to the level disappointment you will feel when you get here or other EU countries. Let me make this clear..I'm not discouraging people from traveling to anywhere, i'm basically saying that people should travel at the right time with the right paper 6 Likes |

justwise: Bros pls dont worry about us traveling out of this nigeria and coming to join you there and suffer, we are already used to the suffering here, so suffering is normal already to us. We just want to change the environment, the suffering can continue we dont mind. Better still since you are suffering there why not pls come back to Nigeria first then when covid 19 goes away then you return back since it's not easy over there. Please sir we are in different shoes let us wear ur shoe first then we would see where its pinching you..... Even if something worse than covid19 comes out just like OP said staying in Nigeria would still be very far from an option to be consider Feel free to like and share if I said your mind until then We Move!!! 26 Likes 1 Share |

justwise: Bro I understand your view and advice but trust me not so easy to hold money down in Niger, bills will surely set in, in my own opinion I still feel going out via school right now is still very much reasonable inspite of the covid 19, at least you would have full access to light and internet which are basic tools to succeed in an online study, which is lacking in Niger, also you are not faced with difference in time zone, some of my friends studying online from Nigeria sometimes miss their lecture due to sleep. Dats already them tending to failure inspite of them paying heavy funds as tuition fees. So there seems to be an advantage at least via school the covid 19 won't keep people on the spot, i see it as just a way of being pro-active and moving with the global world 1 Like |
Re: Determined Immigrant WE-MOVE by justwise(m): 6:13pm On Oct 24, 2020 |
Informanta: You will also pay bills abroad even if you are not using it, yes going through schooling is a good idea but its pointless paying millions to foreign universities only to end up doing online studying, that is a premium long distance studying and at the end you get the same certificate with someone in Nigeria. Like someone mentioned here before..you need to think about the possibility of you getting a job before and after graduation, the reality is that within a year you have spent close to £/$ 25K to £/$30K or even more and at the end you get nothing but shinny qualification. Many countries will allow you to remain and work for 2yrs but if you can't get a job then you just wasted your money and time. Not many Nigerians leave the country with the intention to engage in crime when they get here situation like this forced many into crime and finally prison. Light, internet and good road you think that matters will not be remembered when reality set-in within months. I'm basically saying..prepare before leaving and know the right time to leave else you will regret it. Now is the wrong time to leave. 7 Likes 1 Share |
