The President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, has lauded Nigerian controversial preacher, Prophet TB Joshua, over a prophecy he gave the North African nation.

According to President Mayardit, TB Joshua, who founded and runs The Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN) prophecy in 2019 that peace will be realized in South Sudan by 2020, has in fact come true.

In November 2019, TB Joshua travelled to South Sudan upon invitation by the South Sudanese head of state. The televangelist prayed at the State House in a ceremony attended by most senior government officials.

In an invitation letter date May 5, 2020, Kiir invited Joshua for another visit, praising him for his prophecy which he said in the letter has materialized after the failure of regional and international bodies to bring peace in South Sudan.

“… for your love and humility by coming on your prophetic and historic visit on 12th November 2019 when the Nation was in desperate situation whereby the country was experiencing civil war violence for many years,” Kiir said in the later dated May 5.
“The world organizations tried to negotiate peace but where human wisdom failed, God has the final answer. As you have prophesied that, it shall be a new beginning for the nation and we the leaders should overcome our divisions and our differences and come back to develop our young nation in the World. “Hence we, the Government and the Opposition have come together to implement the revitalized Peace Agreement and now the nation is at peace followed by the formation of revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity (R.TGONU), which signifies a new beginning indeed. ”

Kiir further invited Joshua again saying “The whole nation of South Sudan is ready to receive you once again.”

Even the South Sudanese themselves would be passed at being called North Africans by some misinformed Nigerian daily.

Oh, and by the way, Kiir and his goons should spare us all that talk about "prophecies". We know the peace came about as a result of the same international community refusing to give up on one of their latest creations. Otherwise, not even a million prophecies would have brought Riek to the dialogue table.

Let's see how long this latest "peace" will last since it isn't the first on record.

You know they share a lot- geopolitically, culturally and otherwise- in common with the likes of Uganda, Kenya and the likes.

Not trying to make excuses here but...

It's not going to be that easy.

The country is just 9 years old. What's more? It has only just emerged from a long war of independence which lasted for well over 50 years(I am quite certain that you are aware of this).

And do not forget that they have over 60 ethnic groups that are still struggling to get along with each other. That ethnic strife has led to a civil war.

The military is still largely a collection of ethnic militias masquerading as a national force. Almost everyone is a General. At a point they had over 200 full Generals in the Army alone.
And that same army fractures along ethnic lines at every little strain. You can see how the army divided during the power tussle between Kiir and his vice around 2013/2014 which eventually led to the civil war.

The country is largely land-locked despite having a decent oil reserves. They export their oil through Sudan. Any time they have a problem with Sudan, oil exports freeze and economy suffers.

Then you have the African factor- corruption. Not trying to say corruption is entirely an African thing but it plays a huge role.

It's gonna take a while for everything that I have mentioned to fall into place and those are only a few problems.

It's a very young nation. And nation-building takes years, decades or sometimes, centuries. It is a never-ending process that can test your patience.

Even the greatest countries on Earth have passed through that phase.

For instance, sir, do you know how many rebellions and civil wars were fought in Brazil immediately after it declared independence in 1822?

This will definitely take a while and a 9 years old country is still very much a baby in the scheme of things.
