National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kola Ologbondiyan, has warned against the hiring of thugs to attack protesters in the country.

He said this a few hours after #EndSARS protesters were attacked in Lagos and Abuja on Wednesday.

Though some of the armed thugs were said to be pro-police, it could not immediately be ascertained if they were sponsored by the government.

According to the PDP’s spokesperson, it will be irresponsible for any government to send thugs to attack youths holding a peaceful protest.

“Only an irresponsible government will hire thugs to engage peaceful protesters. @Mbuhari

has lost grips. #EndPoliceBrutality,” he tweeted.

The PUNCH had reported that demonstrations against police violence raged on in Nigeria on Wednesday, with unidentified men in attacking protesters in Abuja and damaging their vehicles.

In Ikeja, Lagos state armed men with machetes and axes attempted to attack protesters but were stopped and handed over to the police.

Earlier, activist Aisha Yusufu had warned that paying thugs attack protestors was a known technique in Nigeria.

“They attacked us in 2014 under the watchful eyes of the police, and that is what they have done again in 2020,” she said.

From my own point of views, I don't think this EndSars, thugs are being paid to do otherwise. Judging from the facts, what is thier remuneration if they do such? None I guess.

How do you expect the baseless never-ending protest not to be hijacked by thugs? You have made your demands and all have been accepted. it is only a fool that will expect to see it's implementation instantly without seeing it go through a process. Whatever is wrong with giving the government just 1 or 2 months grace to see if there will be any difference.

I can't imagine this kind of protest going on under a PDP led administration, despite the government heeding the protesters demands. We lived to see what happened during the Obj/Atiku ara, how they wiped out an entire community. it's just a pity we have a dumb set of youths cursed with forgetfulness.

If Nigeria was a sane country, if it's citizens aren't satisfied with the APC led administration, during the next election, both APC and PDP and every candidate that has been in any of these two failed parties should never appeal to their senses. But watch how they will kill themselves over them in 2023.
