This is what we should be seening in most of Nigeria cities such as Ibadan, Benin city, Warri, Abeokuta, Kaduna, Yenogoa and other too numerous to mention. Nigeria government should empower ministry urban planning in all states of the federation, so that we can have liveable cities in Nigeria.

Bush governors abound in Nigeria
So we only have bushes around
Thanks OP for the nice pictures
We'll plant in our private homes for now
When we end bad governance
We'll plant these on the streets

Re: - by Elijahrona(m): 7:31am On Oct 16, 2020
Hello Sunstorm95, the trees are beautiful, but you have to understand some things when it comes to tree planting:

1. It is not recommended to plant temperate trees in tropical regions (same goes with planting tropical trees in temperate regions) for they may have stunted growth.

2. To sustain the culture of planting trees, we usually regrow native trees. Native trees are trees already in our locality. If we grow foreign trees here, they will become invasive species and might kill our native trees

Thanks...

There used to be a time when you can't cut down a tree on any street without government permission.. These days, maybe with the exception of few cities, the government departments responsible for such have been so messed up with unintelligent staffs that you can cut down all the trees and flowers in a street in most Nigerian cities and nothing will happen! As I am writing this, I'm told that one of my neighbors in the east decided to biuld his fence straight from the edge of the gutters thereby blocking the pedestrian path somewhat! Everybody there is quiet because he is a known trouble maker.

If I carry it on my head, it will look like I'm taking it personal. Meanwhile the government agency responsible has already collected their egunje and are now looking the other way. I said it in a related thread about the need to biuld modern roads in nigeria that most Nigerians underate the net effects of staffing government departments with inept hands and corrupt officers. People are being paid monthly to do these jobs but then folks can't deliver what they don't have. Most officers in most of these departments can't even comprehend the scope or the importance of their work.

What makes some of these countries beautiful is government policies and private partnership drives.
Let's start with housing. Government build houses uniformly and beautifully in an area and sells out to individual. Individual may pay in instalments. Private partnerships do the same as well.
Here in Nigeria, people build houses in free style. Same street you see a high profile building of Tinubu for instance, you will also see the makeshift building of an Okada man.
In overseas estate developers buy land, build houses and sell. Here they only grab land and sell it at exorbitant price and people who buy them decide on what to do on the land. Someone would use his on own as poultry and the other as fish farm and the other as residential area.
Until we begin to see the art in arranging buildings, Nigeria will continue to look like a jungle.

Oga, stop the fantasy, you can only dream of achieving this quickly if the country splits. Such won't happen with the present Nigeria system and constitution, at least not with some of the cities you listed above.
