If you have been following the #EndSARS protests and campaign for the past few days, then you will have come across a report which says that if the protesters keep at it until a 30-day cycle is achieved, then the United Nations (UN) can intervene and save the day. How true is this?

The #EndSARS protests have been going on for more than a week and the campaign has spread to various parts of the country (Check the picture below for the breakdown by state). Several local and international celebrities have also joined the campaign. The EndSARS protests have held in countries like Netherlands France, England, etc.
However, a report made the rounds on social media claiming that the protesters can expect UN intervention if they can keep up the protests for thirty days. The claim read, "According to the UN Constitution any protests that reach 30days will make the UN intervene in that country. The Nigeria Govt knows this. Many young people don’t know it. EXCEPT the govt makes visible tangible immediate changes, #EndSARS protests must continue."

Several celebrities circulated the message on social media and as of the time of writing this report, our correspondent saw the claim on several WhatsApp groups and Twitter accounts. However, Newsbreakers has carried out extensive research to debunk the claim.

Firstly, the United Nations (UN) does not have a constitution. It only possesses a charter to guide the organization and its member countries.

Secondly, according to article 2(7), under the purposes and principles of the United Nations (UN) charter, the organization does not intervene in matters within the domestic jurisdiction of any country.

Article 2(7) read, "Nothing contained in the present Charter shall authorize the United Nations to intervene in matters which are essentially within the domestic jurisdiction of any state or shall require the Members to submit such matters to settlement under the present Charter; but this principle shall not prejudice the application of enforcement measures under Chapter Vll."

Therefore, Newsbreakers has confirmed that the claim is FALSE in its entirety. We advise members of the public to stop spreading misleading information. Newsbreakers remains committed to spreading verified information and, therefore, we encourage the public to adhere to the same principles.

UN has done enough damage already, after all it was their brother Lord Lugard that created this problem called Nigeria.

School is not a scam, one of the conditions the Federal Government should give to ASUU is the expansion and revision of the University Syllabus to represent contemporary realities.

This protest has revealed the rot in the Nigerian educational system caused not just by lecturers and tutors but also by students who rely on hearsay even though reputable documents are available online with free accessibility.

They may claim to have broken the chains of slavery their parents were tied with but they cannot claim that they have changed the widely acknowledged narrative that "if you want to hide something from a Black man, put it in a book."

A significant percentage of Nigerian youths could not recognize that the "Anonymous" Group on Twitter actually hacked nothing. They only received routine website maintenance emails like the rest of us and thereafter proceeded to state that they have hacked the website when the routine maintenance commenced. I literally received that of First Bank and DSTV two days ago but was surprised to read on news outlets that those websites were hacked.
It is very obvious that Nigerians do not read their emails.
It's pertinent to remind you that Nigerian banks have one of the strongest websites in the whole world.

A significant percentage of Nigerian youths genuinely believed that if they protest for 30 days , there is a law that mandates the United Nations to intervene. This collective ignorance has been addressed by the OP.

A significant percentage of Nigerian youths believe that they can remove a democratically elected government through a revolution while the whole world supports them. Well, the Arab Spring happened in Countries that were not democratic. For instance in Libya the president was a military president who ruled for more than 40 years after getting power through a coup d'etat. The United Nations and NATO permits that since such a government came into power through force they can also be removed through force. Such revolution must be supported in good faith.

Even the American government would detain and summarily execute ,or if lenient, convict for life an individual or group that intend to remove an elected American government through a revolution. The whole word knows that to remove Buhari you can only impeach him like the Americans wanted to impeach Donald Trump or wait till 2023. Ipob can explain better to you what will happen when you start the #endbuhari campaign and guess what ? UN , US and EU will do nothing.

So the UN will safe the day in what aspect?
When we say most of these kids and their celebrities are brain-dead. We don't just carry talk.
Whether the UN will remove a democratic elected Government or they will replace the IG of police, that's what I am yet to understand

Sir, their ignorance is sickening. They don't even know what is going on. The United Nations envoy in Nigeria commended President Buhari for listening to the cries of his people and ending SARS immediately earlier this week. The envoy further advised Nigerians to give Government a chance as their grievances have been attended to.

I have come to discover that Buhari is not hard hearted, the report of the United Nations was enough to send these jobless people blocking hardworking members of the society from enjoying their freedom of movement home.

The link above is enough permission to send these people outta the streets.

There is an inpending danger in this country - a huge one that has nothing to do with politicians. A problem of mental capacity of an average Nigerian
