Elvis Okolie Anyaehiechukwu, an indigene of IMO State Nigeria who bagged a Common Wealth Scholarship for his MSc, has bagged a DISTINCTION in Master of Public Health (MPH) Degree from the prestigious Teesside University, UK.

Solutionclass recalls that Elvis Okolie, also graduated with a First-Class honours in Public Health from the prestigious University Of Calabar where he emerged the Overall Best Graduating Student in 2017.

He said that studying in the United Kingdom is a different ball game from the norms in Nigeria. He specifically mentions the shift in educational culture from a more exam based system in Nigeria that gives little priority to critical thinking to the UK system where rigorous thinking and academic writing are appreciated.

He reiterated his commitment to supporting health system strengthening efforts across Nigeria. Additionally, he intends to lead advocacy, research, and programmes directed at cervical cancer prevention and control in Nigeria and Africa. He strongly believes that women and girls deserve a chance at life and development.

When solutionclass quizzed further on his plans, he revealed his intention to return to the classroom in teaching and research capacity. In his words, he states that such position “will provide me the opportunity to raise the next cohort of public health professionals ready to tackle contemporary health and social issues”. Again, he plans to start up a hub to support young Nigerians win scholarships to pursue the dream of an international education.
