Oga most people think social media regulation means total scrapping or limited use of social media , no that is not the idea . But we need stronger cyber laws to punish people that purposely put articles and images with wrong captions knowing it is false information .Most people do not know how far this malicious articles and images they create can lead to a total breakdown of law and order

Pls don't promote this nonsense of social media regulation, in whatever form cos before you know it, such laws will be wrongly and grossly missappropiated and used as a political weapon to clamp on oppositions, then we begin to tilt towards North Korea. See what is happening to media outfits, cos they covered happenings of event, NBC fined them and they working assiduously hard to change the narrative of what happened. From "it wasn't army, na navy", " videos were photo shops" to " yes it was us but blank ammunitions" which is the recent narrative.
Don't forget, our rights to protest is already been contested. And same is our fundamental human right to be treated fairly and respectfully. With the happenings since 2015, our right to live is also contested. In short, all our fundamental human rights is being contested.

Isn't it obvious that the so called government isn't an honest one, hoarding and shrouding in secrecy everything including sharing of ordinary palliatives. To share maggi, indomie or garri is also done in secrecy. Just imagine!

Is that not a country already heading for destruction! Read about North Korea. They living a very horrible life there. Its so bad that they even tell their citizens the type of haircuts and hairdos for females allowed by law and it all starts with the silly comments like the one Desmond and his colleagues both at state and federal level makes.

Social media is a tool. It can be harnessed which ever way depending on its environment. We can say its a reflection of what the society is passing through. So if you have pimples, by breaking your mirror is the way to solve your pimples problem?

All the government need to do is be transparent, more responsive to issues, give better governance and provide better leadership and Social will reflect such accordingly.

Desmond Elliot has broken down in tears on Live TV, following the backlash he's receiving from Nigerians over social media regulation.

Recall that the former actor, at the Lagos State House of Rep in his submission, pushed for passing if social media regulation bill.

the controversial statement received lots of criticisms, as many Nigerian youths boast him for referring to youths as “children” and for also pushing for the regulation of social media.

Desmond Elliot in a new interview on Arise TV broke down in tears. This came after he apologized for his statement earlier.

nobody is going towards a situation like North Korea . It is simple whatever you post on social media you should know and be ready to be held accountable for it .Even the big bloggers are not left out of spreading fake news . I will use the private warehouse that was looted in Benin as an example that is the end result of fake news (put yourself in the owners shoes ) .To me it is just pure evil to get gory pictures from the internet of past events and label it to a present crisis going on , such a person deserves to be punished

Fake news thrive cos transparency is lacking. What is fake news when everybody knows the truth or the truth is easily accessible.

The solution to headache is not cutting the head. There are pragmatic steps that can be taken to curb fake news.

One of such is the one I just mentioned which is transparency and accountability. It is very simple, just put the truth out there.
