Let's start with the Judiciary .

It is supposed to be the third leg in the tripod of governance but has been denied it's bite and voice.

For there to be any meaningful reform to our criminal justice system the Judiciary must be revamped and given back it's due powers and authority .

Other than funding, the Judiciary has no way to enforce it's pronouncements and depends largely on the executive and it's security agencies to carry out it's judgements .

It is in this light I am proposing the creation of a Federal Court Marshal Office whose functions shall be:

1. Enforce court rulings , forefitures, fine payments and all cost awarded to plaintiffs in a suit .

2. Maintain security around court premises and that of Judges and their homes

3. Provide and operate jail holding facilities for those awaiting trial or found in contempt of court.

4. Track down and arrest fugitives of the court, those who refused court summons as well as also track those who jump bail, break out of jail .

5. The Federal Marshal office will also head a joint taskforce to track escaped convicts from correctional facciliies.

The Federal Marshal office will be answerable only to the CJN and other justices who by their power of a signed warrant effect a court decision.

Prosecutors Office

This shall be the only office saddled with the powers to charge anyone to court .

The Police should have no powers whatsoever to charge or arraign anyone to court rather the suspect file should be handed to the office of the public prosecutor from where after a review of the evidence gathered by the police determine if there is any evidence to prosecute or even decide if a crime was committed in the first place.

A Public prosecutor office shall be established for each local govt and a district prosecutor shall be elected by the people for a term of 5ys .

The governor should not have any powers to appoint any prosecutor so as not to taint him

At the Federal level , a federal prosecutor office vested to prosecute federal crimes will be appointed by the President after a joint nomination process by both the NJC and NBA.

Policing.

Scrap the useless Nigerian Police .

In it's place let's have community policing down to every LGA which will be headed by an elected Police Sheriff.

No state police as that is like making the current centralized police into 36 more problems as we know our useless governors will abuse it .

Each elected Sheriff will appoint or employ deputies which have been certified and cleared by the Police Service Commision after having duly completed a police training program and have undergone both a criminal background check and psychological evaluation .

The Police Service Commision will also operate an Internal Affairs department to carry out investigations into police corruption , killings, extortion and whatnot.
