Funny how Brazil whose economy isn't very stable amidst this corona chaos would have money to borrow us..

Mr president should borrow as much money as possible because none of this money will ever be repaid. We are in the season of Jubilee, a season of debt forgiveness, it is biblical and it's scriptural, Leviticus 25. I believe they know this and know the season we are in.

Don't start ethic war this morning abeg. By now, we ought to have been more learned the way we post comments without bias. If you visit South East and see property destroyed during protest, you'd simply pray for forgiveness. Those thugs loaded in 3 brt buses to the protest ground where peaceful protesters were gathered...were they also Igbos? This isn't shout tribe. The damage is across board. Do you think same ipob would suddenly locate oba Akiolu's palace and BRT terminals to destroy things? If you visit enugu alone, you'd be shocked seeing the level of damage done.

Some of you people are so senseless that you don't deserve access to the internet.

What has the news piece go to do with IPOB?

You just wasted some useful cyberspace

To the news, Buhari and his goons keep making the impression that Nigeria is so broke and generates nothing in revenue.

Let it be known that China and Brazil are not as merciful as Paris Club that will consider cancelling or forgiving your debt.

I didn't actually read it... But my question is what plans does the present government has in terms of how to pay back or are they incurring these debts for future government?
The next govt will swim in serious debt

Project is dead on arrival.

Why not focus on regions rather than federation.. And tackle potential problems in a systematic way ...

Lack of power, security issues and consistent storage/transportation facilities make this project unattainable

Involvement of local businesses with FDI makes it sustainable..
Hence the growing role of agrictech.

Focus on what's achievable and stop trying to be relevant in areas that's way beyond your reach.

Stop borrowing... U don't borrow borrow, China is no more lending -- how many projects u don finish so,.... Na Brazil turn now!!

They are borrowing to import agricultural machinery from Brazil when they should be borrowing to assemble agricultural machinery in Nigeria. Very soon they will borrow to import spare parts for those machinery

They say that the tractors will be locally assembled but I have not seen any evidence of factories being constructed to assemble the tractors and does Nigeria have the supply chain to support assembly plants in terms of electricity, steel, glass, tyres, skilled labour and efficient logistics.

Brazil needs to sell manufactured products to boost their economic so the government is loaning Nigeria $1.2 billion to buy stuff from Brazil that we need but can't afford.

I am 50-50 on this loan, the investment mechanised farming will improve productivity and is better than giving erratic farmers loans that would be wasted on more wives and housing.

The initiative is a Nigeria-Brazil Cooperation Project Agriculture.

She explained that the loan which would majorly be provided by Brazilian government, would be provided in kind through the supply of agricultural machinery and implements in the form of Completely Knocked Down, CKD, parts.

The minister said: “The project we are launching today will be implemented with a total loan package of US$1.1 billion majorly from the Brazilian government, which will be disbursed in four tranches over a period of two years.

Speaking at the programme, the Brazilian Ambassador to Nigeria, Ricardo Guerra de Araujo, said the $1.1 billion contract includes 10,000 tractors to be assembled here in Nigeria, more than 707 centres to be established to train not less than 10,000 Nigerians. He also said the project aims to create over five million new jobs, especially among the youths.
