Part of the Woke people I've written about in this section. Until he relocates to Nigeria (although as a dual citizen), whatever he wrote there is OKOTO MEOW!

Lastly, people should stop comparing salaries, expenses and currencies between a developing country with a small economy and a developed country with a large economy.

Can you walk around freely at 2 am in Nigeria without fear of getting robbed, killed or policemen asking you for aNyThiNg 4 d B0!z ?

Lastly don't ever compare a first world country with a third world country, don't try it mbok.

It's like living in okokomaiko as opposed to lekki.

Year after year, the country keeps dwindling and poverty level keeps on increasing, Naira no get value again.

A bag of rice costs more than minimum wage but politicians are taking home more than 20M monthly, but you think APC and PDP is the problem. Nigerians need to wake up and smell the coffee wallahi. It's about time.

Look what the EndSARS protest revealed.. politicians hoarding INDOMIE so that they can use for photo ops during the next generational elections and you think Nigeria will get better ?

CORRUPTION is the only thriving industry in Nigeria.

The future is bleak for the average Nigerian, do whatever you can to leave legitimately.

, STAY WOKE.

Like I saw on a Facebook post: politicians who hoard Indomie can never provide the needed economic policies or infrastructure to move the country forward. How on earth would he compare a country where politicians hoard Indomie aka noodles o to a place where there are consequences for ridiculous policies? Some of these abroad people who left a long time don't know what the vast majority of Nigerians are going through. I reiterate, if he finds it difficult in the US, he should take the next available flight to Lagos. Not more than ten hours!

I’ve never worked a weekend shift that I didn’t either volunteer for or took the job specifically.

You really can’t compare the value of money for eating like that.

Let’s break it down.

Any Nigerian can open a bukateria. No health inspection, no insurance, no employee welfare, employment development program, safety programs like OSHA. So yeah you can just pop in to Dugbe market in the morning and sell shawarma in the evening. Overhead is cheap.

In the USA you’ll be in bed with the authorities to satisfy all health, safety and insurance requirements.

Insurance is based on age, credit rating, location and risk factors. A married career accountant will pay less than a single bungee jumping hobbyist.

Anyways it’s the personal point of view of one person.

All that being said, “I” am living my best life in Nigeria. As I’ve stated before, the real MVP are those that have never traveled out but are still making serious legit coin in Nigeria.

Please note that I did not encourage anyone not to travel out. We have open borders and embassies litter Nigeria.

I just came here to vent. This post is utterly asinine, lacks depth and insane.

500 bucks cannot get you a decent meal in Lagos. Everything is on the high rise these days. From Rent to Transportation, fuel, car, Nepa, maintenance, generator repairs, school fees, Data, airtime, groceries and miscellaneous.

Abi uno dey pay bills for Naija ?

It's just stupid comparing bills... everyone pays bills regardless of the country they're domiciled in, so that's just a useless comparison. I don't mind paying tax as long as I can get access to good roads, water, light, education and HEALTHCARE.

You think 300k salary is eldorado until you need money for cancer treatment and you have less than 3 months to live. That's when you start to create gofundme page, Twitter threads and Nairaland posts asking us to call contribute 1k each.

If you get hit by a car or get shot in Nigeria just drink olive oil and say your last words because e no sure say you go make am. People would rather bring out phones and instagram you all the way to lindaikeji, nairaland and instablog. No human empathy whatsoever and first aid techniques

No country is easy, but NIGERIA is surely close to hell, I can show you vouchers.

Also don't forget, BLACK TAX is real.

As a bachelor, I spend nothing less than 1200 on feeding daily.

Do it for your kids man, that'd be the smartest decision you will ever make. A 5 year old kid is more advanced and sound, than a 15 year old in Nigeria. Environment plays a major role in all ramifications.

Note that once you get married, your life takes a nosedive and the generational poverty cycle is engrained in your family. You become responsible for your wife and kids. Little wonder men die earlier that women because of financial pressure.

It's a rat race, you are either Rich or Poor in Nigeria. There's nothing like middle class again as they've moved to Canada to seek for greener pastures.

If all your politicians and thier kids school and live abroad, build hotels, secure investments and have dual citizenship... You should use your brain to do the math. I use my korokoro eyes see that useless slowpoke called Desmond IDIOT, sorry Elliot for my IELTS center...baba don relocate ein family go Canada via express entry.

You that you are here deceiving yourself that you will build Nigeria (oshey, Bob the builder)... I just dey laugh your stupidity. Passport uno get, Connection uno get, good job uno get, helper uno get, how you wan take make am abeg ?

A country where the number of religious houses supercedes schools, vocational centers, research and development centers CANNOT thrive. It's not rocket science, it's just common sense.

Country of over 60 years Never get sense, na you wan build am abi ? It's just laughable I swear. Nigerians just amaze me everyday.

92% of Nigerians don't have up to 500k as savings.

Only 8% of the population earn above 100k as salary....so what were you saying again ?

People think Nigeria begins and ends in LAGOS. go to neighbouring states to see the level of poverty there...

My hand don dey pain me abeg, if you are comfortable with living a mediocre life please kindly stay back in Nigeria ooo, thank you.
you've said the truth man.....how easy it is to legally relocate to countries in Europe, Asia or North America....

I know we are all upset about Nigeria . But this is not true.

1)Unless that 15 yr old is developmentally delayed.

Indeed, they are the real MVPs.

Including those who send their kids to the US/UK/Canada and fund them from Nigeria.

I met many of them. I even met a student that the parents bought a condo for when she was doing her schooling. Regular businessmen parents not politicians.

Op please which part of Nigeria can someone eat breakfast and lunch for 500 naira. A loaf of bread now is 500 and that won't even be enough for breakfast for a family whereas On Walmart you still see loafs of bread for less than 1 USD. And who is living a fulfilled life in Nigeria? A country with youth unemployment rate of over 80 percent. The world's poverty capital of the world. Why do people continue speaking as if Nigeria is heaven on earth. Nigeria is the worst country anybody can be in.

Agege bread 100 naira and ewa agoin 100.
Then lunch rice 200 meat 100 cheesy cheesy

Maybe in the village, 500 bucks can get you far but certainly not in Lagos.

My advice...

In the US you get good quality of life and its not cheap...

Nigeria is not looking sharp in terms of employment and economy for real.

If you have the means to move... Do it now
When you arrive... Drop that mentality I don't wanna pay tax... Forget about nigeria exchange rate because as soon as u carry ur calculator to analyze ur expenditure.. U may start wiping...

On the other hand, if God is with you and you have the logic to make it big in ur country of birth... It ts the best idea... All you need is connection and right information..

But seriously leave if you can

If you don't know how you are blessed, you will think your father's farm is worse than your friend father's farm. Do not be deceived, Nigeria is not the best country but it is a good one.

$1 is #500 and so what?
Let me elucidate from my little experience. Can anyone in USA use $1 for breakfast? No. But in Nigeria #500 will feed you for breakfast and lunch. Majority of people's monthly house rent (self contained apartment) in the USA is $1,000 and above, and that is your own 2 year's rent.

Have you ever paid for insurance before, insurance in US is $280 and that is almost #100,000 monthly.

When last did you pay monthly phone bills? I pay almost #40,000 monthly and if I don't, they are going to block my SIM. Your own MTN can be there for months without recharge.

When last did you work on Saturday and Sunday? This I do compulsorily and on regular basis.

Don't get me wrong, the USA is better than Nigeria, depending on which angle you are viewing it. Do you want to hear the truth? Many people in Nigeria live a more fulfilling life compared to their counterparts abroad. Forget about all the packaging on social media and give credit to the good life you are living.

Do you know why they always come to Nigeria and rush back quickly? Because bills are counting and elongated freedom will put their lives into jeopardy. If you, as a black, attempt to emulate the whites, they will kneel on your neck. Apart from Congo, no citizens in the entire universe enjoy life to the fullest than Nigerians.

You are abundantly blessed but you don't know until you get visa and relocate to abroad, that is when you will know that your 8hrs job in Nigeria with free weekend is awoof. With 8hrs job abroad, you can only pay bills, you will need another 6 to 8 hours to save for the future and plan your life.

The truth is that the grass is green everywhere, it's lack of vision by our politicians and the skewed religious practices (which placed emphasis on miracles) that ascended Nigeria onto a myopic tentacle of complete inertia.
I have always known this.. Thanks for the write up.. It's the best post ever on nairaland.
