Reps Begin Constitution Amendment Process, Call For Memoranda by adenigga(m): 3:47am On Nov 18
The House of Representatives’ Special Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution has commenced the process of further alteration of 1999 Constitution (as amended).

The committee has, therefore, requested the general public, executive and judicial arms of government, civil society organisations, professional bodies and other interest groups to submit memoranda or proposals to its secretariat.

The Deputy Speaker and Chairman of the committee, Ahmed Wase, especially called for memoranda relating to the federal structure and power devaluation, local government autonomy, fiscal federalism, revenue allocation, Nigeria Police and security architecture and judicial reforms.

Others include electoral reform to strengthen the Independent National Electoral Commission to deliver transparent, credible, free and fair elections; socio-economic and cultural rights as contained in Chapter 2 of the constitution, strengthen the independence of oversight institutions, immunity, state creation, National Assembly and others “that will promote good governance and welfare of all persons.”

Wase, in a statement issued on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Umar Puma, titled ‘Constitution review: Reps commences process, calls for memoranda,’ noted that issues pertaining to immunity, state creation, National Assembly and other matters that will promote good governance and welfare of all persons, residency and indigenous provision, would top the agenda of the committee.

The House had on October 15, 2020, inaugurated the committee to process all bills seeking alterations to the provision of the Constitution.

Wase had at the ceremony said the panel had received 15 bills.

Nice one.

This is another topic Nigerian pastors will preach on Sunday.
Watch out how they will tell their members that House of Rep members has collected money from Bill Gate, Joe Bidden nd Pope so as to amend our constitution in order to impose NEW WORLD ODER policies on Nigerians

But u see free, fair nd credible election in Nigeria, its not just possible.
It doesn't mata how the law is amended, its not just possible

They should also amend the the borrowing act, by criminalising excessive borrowing by any govt.
Or they should force any president or Governor that borrow money to pay it back before his tenure ends or else him and his family will be jailed.

They must have discovered a couple of things in the constitution which doesn't quite favour them, now they have to fix those clauses to enable them steal with greater impunity.

The only amendments we need are
The total monthly take home of legislators MUST be divided into two. The process of recall should be made less cumbersome.
Capital punishment for corrupt politicians and political appointees.

And they wouldn't be wrong though. I don't know about the Pope and Biden, but certainly Gates, Soros, Bloomberg, Bezos. And it's more of a Globalist agenda. Don't underestimate the CIA & the American Administrative State (or Deep State)

Constitution amendment under a tribal government is very dangerous. What if the situation is worsened? If say, a Saraki was there, at least we can trust the process. We are talking about a government that has shown a clear favoritism of people from one section of this country. If they amend the constitution, it is only to empower that section more. They should hold not amend it now.

Fixing this country will only start with fixing our electoral system. Hence, NASS should veto the president and pass the Electoral Act 2020 into law. Same should also be done to the Petroleum Industry Bill and other important Acts the president has refused to assent to.

You guys should watch this process carefully. Let some selfish people not introduce selfish clauses into the constitution, because it becomes enforceable law.

This government of nepotism and favouritism with other docile members amending the constitution only means one thing. Nigerians this process they are about embarking is Pandora's box if you don't shine your eyes.
