studentofTruth:We have a FG that is a monster built through unity among its political elites with the arrangement of sharing the national cake among the political elites while the rest are to endure endless poverty. This is the enemy. The Southern elites are OK so long as they are getting their share, to hell with their region, they don't care if there's abject poverty and living conditions is hell for the masses. They prefer to be the Billionaires surrounded by extreme poverty and they can be worshipped by the poor and they can show off and their families live like Kings. So these people will never work to change the status quo or fix the system. Same thing is applicable throughout Nigeria. Boko Haram is not just as a result of religous extremism, poverty is a major factor. They want a shift of power where the national cake is being enjoyed by the Northern elites only. And BTW, Restructuring CANNOT work. I don't know why most people can't see this FACT. Restructuring = Regionalism, and we have done that before in the past. We had amalgamation, which led to regionalism and regionalism led to federalism. If Regionalism was perfect, why would the politicking and political game of thrones they were playing at that time lead them to sign off on Federalism? Why didn't they form independence as the United Regions of Nigeria? Which would have been the case if the political landscape and power struggle favored Regionalism and independent regions with a central figurehead. But politics and powers struggle pushed them to Federalism, pushed them to form the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which means Regionalism cannot work. If we repeat it, then the same power struggle and game of thrones that pushed the political elites of that era to scheme for Federalism will repeat itself too. Self Determination is the only solution. To be clamoring and pushing for Restructuring simply means either A) We don't know our history, or B) We didn't learn from our history, or C) All of the above. |

Eating your cake and still have it. The Oil cannot be mined by private individuals but the Zamfara gold can be. The North has shown so much double standards and injustice to the South for so long. When the bubble burst the next generations of Northerners will read the tales with much regrets. uote author=Ricoluv post=96194950] https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/zamfara-goldfields-dont-belong-to-govt-commissioner/%3famp=1
|

Olofin2:When you have run of lies to tell to cover up for the previous lies you have been telling, then there's a tendency you will just say one rubbish that will blow up everything Same way they will say they are paying bandits to bring peace, same way they will say they are rehabilitating Boko Haram, but peaceful protesters will be shot dead, and I am yet to hear that one IPOB member (just ONE, I'm not asking for two) has been reformed by the FG. The news alleged that many of those massacred and dumped in the Ezu River were MASSOB members. Why didn't the FG reform them, why didn't they spend billions to rehabilitate them and reintegrate them into society like they are doing with Boko Haram members? So many whys and what ifs. |

Kestolove:Which West are you referring to? Always get your facts right before spilling rubbish. What does South-East have that South-West lacks? In commercial oil deposit in Nigeria, Cross River, Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, Ondo which is South West state before you mentioned Imo, Abia and Lagos |

By implications, the state government buy the gold from illegal miners? Shouldn't those illegal miners be arrested by the government and not patronized? This country, robbing peter to pay paul. Also allow the South South leaders to buy and sell crude from illegal miners too 1 Like |

If they want to project equity they should organise mining to the same standards and framework as the oil and gas industry, through open bidding and with international conglomerates involved. As long as it continues to be shady and done shoddily there will always be demands for equity and justice. The Federal Goverment either raises the threshold of the mineral industry or lowers the threshold of the oil and gas industry. If not south state governors may as well involve themselves in bunkering activities claiming simularly to be 'buying off crude to prevent proceeds from thr hands of militants'. We really need to restructure this country. The level of injustice is really piling on the wood for a big bonfire to come. I hope this country will be able to recover from the next public rumpus. 1 Like |

Oga Commissioner I normally don't comment on matter like this but i will make an exception You buy the Gold from ILLEGAL MINERS the keyword is ILLEGAL MINERS. Do you know what happens to ILLEGAL REFINERS OF CRUDE OIL IN THE SOUTH? They are harassed and killed by the ARMY You are legitimizing the activities of the illegal miners buying buying the product they are mining illegally |

I said it! The more they try to cover up the more they expose themselves. Where are all those wannabees who were arguing with me on this topic the other day? Here and now your commissioner have consciously agreed they have illegal miners, and the state is doing business with these criminals, meaning by deductive reasoning Zamfara state is knowingly or unknowingly sponsoring these artisanal criminals , case closed! Let no one ever come to tell us anything about operational licence again. |
He said, “The state government doesn’t own any portion of the goldfields throughout the state and is not involved in mining activities.” The commissioner maintained that the state government only used to buy the gold from the illegal miners in order to prevent the commodity from being smuggled out of the country or sold out to bandits. “What the state government does is to buy the gold so that it doesn’t fall into wrong hands who in return sell it outside the country and purchase weapons for the bandits.” Just imagine buying gold from the illegal miners and they know them. We've gone past these things abeg. Why don't they arrest the illegal miners. They've just scored an OWN GOAL. then FG should start buying crude from illegal drillers. 1 Like |
