What you wrote here is true to the later, except on castigating CNN. They did thorough job in pushing the truth to limelight for all a sundry. People died at that toll gate on that very day.....in cold blood.

But was it a massacre or the usual case of police/military overstepping their bounds? It happens also in the USA(if police spots weapons on protesters they fire either tear gas or bullets to stop the immediate threat) but you won't see outside countries calling for investigation or labeling the country as genocide supporter.
